Mixing up your Poker Game

In the beginning stages of your poker career, you may not have a specific style of play yet. It takes many hours of experience before you develop into a specific type of player. There are a variety of different types of players in poker, and they all have their advantages.

The truly good players have a style of play that combines them all together. They mix up their game and keep people guessing non-stop. The truly good poker players can play any style of poker on any given day.

One reason, that is not as commonly thought about is because of how the other players play. Depending on what your opponents are doing at the table, should make a big difference in the style you play with. You should be able to adjust your game accordingly.

If you are at a weak table with a lot of tight straight forward players who do not want to take a chance ... you are going to want to be more aggressive and crazy with your bets. When people do decide to play with you, you will know they have a huge hand. The majority of the time they will not have those types of hands which will enable you to win with your bets.

In general you may be a very aggressive player who plays many hands and takes many chances. In some games you might run into a table filled with maniacs and crazy big betters who raise every single hand. This is one of those instances where you really need to mix up your game. You do not want to be your usual aggressive self here, because you do not need to. There is no point battling it out with other players the same as you. In this case, you just sit back and wait for the right hand then attack these players with their stupid actions. You know that you are going to get paid off huge, with your big hand no matter what.

If you are going to play in lots of different poker games with different people it is crucial to mix up your game. Even if you are playing in the same game with the same people, you still have to mix up your game. It is funny how it works, because for the opposite reasons, you need to change up your game.

If you do not know your players you need to mix up your game to effectively play against their game. If you do know the players, you need to mix up your game to effectively stop them from knowing your style of play.

No matter how you look at it, you must mix up your poker game.
