I noticed the same thing happen with our home game players - they first started out as total gamblers and played very loose and very aggressive not intentionally but just because it was fun - they obviously lost a fair bit of cash over the first few games (with big swings up and down)

then they started to play online a bit - the next home game comes along and they are a totally different player

thinking about odds a bit more and definately thinking about outs

totally improved their game no end - now they are still loose aggressive but also change gear to tight aggressive and also trickier to judge as a result

so I agree with you - online poker can be a good warm up for live games
