Default do you mean a bot or an odds calc ?

hi Styler & rogers

do you mean he was using a bot (rare) or an odds calculator (now quite common) ?

I ask because if you were talking to him then the player was there - which kind of defeats the point of having a bot (which incidently are not very common)

If he had a bot that would automatically sit on the software and play itself he would be off making a cup of tea or something else

if he had a really good bot he would be on the beach and not online talking to players

bots are

a) not very common - I mean really not very common at all - and also not allowed
b) not that clever and certainly wouldn't be programmed to go with 22 beyond the flop if it didnt hit trips

Maybe I'm wrong but I think it's more likely he meant he used poker odds calculator software which sits by side of the poker site giving advice and calculating odds / outs / pot odds etc - these are much more common and are perfectly allowed for online poker.

whilst they are very good for building your game they can be beaten my a human player
(we have an ad for an odds calculator - pokerbility - there are also ones like pokertracker and the list goes on)

you can throw a player using these by raising either well over the odds at which it would advise for example a call on a draw or also by betting well under which throws the player and the odds calc

Basically lets assume he had one or other they both work mathmatically - so you do one of two things or both -

either give the player with the odds calc the kind of bet for them to put you on a hand that either you have or you dont - depending on whether you want them to call or not

ie. representing, especially with scare cards down - this is the same as playing against very strict tight players - give them the signals you want to give them

hope thats a help

cheers scrawnybob
