Default excellent post from Gypsy

hi

just want to add that is an excellent post by Gypsy and alot of really good points covered

this is the kind of thing that really helps members in the forum ;-)

I too am not a big fan of re-buys but I think Gypsy has hit the nail on the head - you need to view them differently and assess if they are worth entering in the first place - that doesnt mean they are a bad investment - just a different investment

I've played some re-buy games live and I have to say they are amazing - what people will play etc (online games from limited experience seem to be the same)

now for example most of them seems to be happy to re-buy at least 3 times (say equivalent of $90) with 100 players starting and a final prize pool of $10,000 (£5,000 GBP)

but the 9th place prize money was only around £100 / $200 so the ones who were making 4+ rebuys ($120) had to finish in the money / 9th just to break even or still be short

the fact that players were happy to do this (total gamblers / fish I think) meant that the quality of the players was generally lower - and the big re-buyers were just really stoking up the prize pool for the more experienced / sensible players to benifit from

if the games had been $90 freezeout - these players although spending the same if not more wouldnt have been so keen to play

crazy logic but worth considering - re-buy games are full of gamblers / dreamers / chancers who will boost up the prize pool for you

just make it through the re-buy period and then it gets better

cheers scrawnybob
