Default 22 call min bet - but NO call of all-in

hi

I would say this is a no brainer - you dont know what a player has before the cards are turned so to say ... he has AK what would you do ? is an illogical question

obviously if you knew he had AK and this was a hypothetical statistical odds question then 22 is ahead - but by such a small margin as to be not worth considering ahead at a guess its about 52% / 48%

but in a real game where you are holding 22 and someone bets all-in ... you are 99% likely to be beaten by whatever he has - any pocket pair even 3's has you substancially behind

so IMHO calling an all-in even if its "only" 2.5k of your 12k stack is just throwing away 20% of your stack for no good reason

hope thats a help

cheers scrawnybob

ps. that doesnt mean 22 is a totally unplayable hand ... if you can see a flop for free or 1BB ... if you flop a set then maybe great but that isnt going to happen often and the rest of the time even in an unraised pot its risky ... if there is alot of value in the pot from alot of players calling and your on the button then of course you should call a 1 or 2 BB bet and see what happens - but all-in call NO DEFINATELY NOT
