The bad beat jackpot has to be with 4 players in the hand at the time of the BB. There are a couple other rules to have the BB. qualify. If your at the same table you do get a piece of the pie. They have a list of BB. winners, although i find it hard to believe that to be true. BB. winners get a lot of $$. I had a couple bad beats but it didn't fall under the BB. criteria. I only played at BB. tables couple times, they take a little $$ from any pot.
