hi all

I've said this before - whenever rubbish threads get replied to it just drags them back up again, which is counterproductive

it's like when yet anothe "where are passwords" thread gets made and then replied to ... it inevitably then attracted more lazy posters with more "me too" posts

so please please ...please just let the bad threads die off and disappear into the bottom

send in a report thread / post to me (see red triangle at top of every post) and I can then deal with it / move it / delete and at least have it drawn to my attention ... without it getting put back up at the top of the forum

if we only reply to decent posts ... then only decent posts will be most visible ... that will then amost certainly give a solid impression to new members that we have and expect decent posts

If it's a decent thread that has got ruined by a couple of bad / pointless posts ... then dont post more moaning etc in that thread and make it worse ... hit that report thread button and I will tidy it up ... use "tidy good thread" or somthing like that and then I know that you value that thread and it needs tidying

I've said it before and I know members find some other members posting frustrating but it really really does NOT look good or encourage better posting if members go too heavy on the "your a bad poster" ...

WHY ?

because as well as the "bad / lazy poster" reading it (and maybe giving up) there will I can guarantee be 10 or more other people that will be put off posting for fear of not making good enough posts ... this isnt the way to encourage more members to be active

Even more importantly ... Its the potentially good posters that get put off ... not the lazy posters who are by definition were not that bothered in the first place

so please please ... please ... NO public berating ... send in the thread reports and I will deal with them one way or another asap

then the threads get tidy, active members can use their time posting more positive stuff in better threads ... and then it all becomes a happy upward spiral of good posts and threads attracting more good posters and more good threads
