Okay,.. in my honest opinion.. he's an idiot.. BUT I think you played it poorly (IMO,.. way differently from how I would've played it).
Okay so I don't know what position you're sitting in on table?? but sounds like it's not the blinds cuz you state 'everyone folds'.
By only flatcalling his raise, you're basically INVITING other hands to come in,.. giving them odds to make a call. This is not what you want to do period!
Also noticed that you said "I just call, wanting to play it a bit safe" but then you shoved all your chips in on the flop,.. how is that safe? (maybe a 'scared bet' in hopes of not getting called and maybe this is how the idiot perceived it,.. also it is common for novices to shove it allin on flop in a pure bluff and quite often will get looked up when they do it (if they had strong,.. why wouldn't they be wanting to 'massage the pot' and actually win something with their strong hand??.. .therefore the flop shove can look potentially weak.. still no excuse for the donk to call with his retarded hand mind you).
IMO (again), I always want to be the aggressor (most cases,.. this one FOR SURE). I'm raising her instantly 'pre-flop'. If he's raised it up 3xbb,.. I'm now raising it up 3x his bet (3x3xbb),.. I desperately want to keep out A-rag, or A-Xs hands from calling and want to do my best to keep this pot heads up preferably. Raising a raiser with a high pkt. pair preflop is a standard play.
Many advantages for being the raiser and aggressor. ie. say you only had AK and missed the flop,.. a continuation bet might still take it down (if it works 1 in3 then it's a +EV play for you).
I REALLY don't like the pre-flop 'flat-call' here with other players yet to act. Sorry if that's where I've placed my focus on in this example, instead of focusing on the morons call on the flop to your allin shove.
How many placed in the $$,.. was the bubble just popped here? Only reason I see the guy calling is as I said earlier, the 'allin' flop shove could be taken as a huge sign of weakness (with a strong hand, aren't you wanting to get his chips into the pot,.. but to bet out enough so that a drawing hand is making the wrong play by calling??).
Last tip,... take his name down and try to find what games he's playing and hope to get on their table again as they sound like they're a real donater.
