Default Forum Updates - sections / posting rules etc

    hi all

hopefully you've spotted some of the updates on the forum

    New forum strategy sections

I've added some new sections for discussion of poker strategy, including MTT tournaments, SNG tournaments, Ring Game Strategy & also HORSE poker etc

these are intended for decent discussions on strategy etc - NOT for crappy "me too / tough break, one line bullcrap" replies that mean nothing and add nothing to the topic in hand

any duff posts in this section will get deleted without hesitation - I've put these sections up specifically at the request of members who are tired of their strategy discussion / questions etc getting derailed in general or poker chat - by pointless posts

New locked member only "freeroll passwords" section

Due to the inability for some freeroll type members & some new members to follow our decent posts only rule - I have had enough of poor posts, so to avoid actively encouraging them with a posting requirement for entry to our PRIVATE non league FREEROLLS ...

but to be able to offer some non league freerolls for our members who dont play $1 buy-in games etc ...

There is now NO POSTING requirement to play our non league freerolls - hopefully new members / existing members will post up their screen names in the screen names thread as this would be a help - but we simply dont want junk posts for the sake of it - It helps no-one.

hopefully new and existing inactive members will find the forum worth posting in for the sake of posting and taking part in the forum discussions without just "having" to post to get freeroll passwords ...

so please dont post junk - if you cant be bothered to make half decent posts - dont

The freerolls we are adding will generally be on Tuesday's

These passwords are still PRIVATE - DO NOT SHARE OUR PASSWORDS

New 90 day rule for "buy-in and league passwords" section

I have amended the posting requirement to access our league and buy-in passwords section ... it is NOW 10+ decent posts in last 90 days

so more time than the original 10+ posts in last 60 days

this is to keep our buy-ins and leagues for active members of the forum - but with a 90 day period IMHO there are no excusses - 10 decent posts in 90 days is easy to do.

Default hopefully more for members to get into

    hi Stix et all

yep hopefully this will give members more to get their posting teeth into - and with more specific sections I'm hoping that the quality posts will rise to the top and get the most attention and decent replies etc - as the new sections are pretty strategy focussed

ive also amended the desciptions on some of them - so bad beats are now strictly only to be posted in the bad beat (moaning) section ;-)

all positive moves I hope - with the 90 day rule (I know some would like still 60) but the amount of PM's I get saying its not working / why locked out etc is too irritating

at least with 90 days - it should IMHO be pretty obvious if you cant access the buy-in and league passwords - your not being anything like active enough

members really shouldnt be having to go through their profile / show all posts to count how many they have in this situation - its obvious & members really should be able to figure they havent been active if they cant get in

if members are really having to look so hard so they are posting to the requirements - then its really missing the point of being naturally active and then being able to play the leagues

anyway - the good news is its easier and better sections in the forum & the freeroll issue is just going to have to sort itself out without negatively affecting the posting in the forum

I also like the new sections/threads. I hope the new 10in90 works and all the whining PMs headache goes away SB.

    Wow cool

i like the new structure and defenitly the 90 day rule should now work for everyone who is only a little bit interested into beeing involved with the forum.

I hopw SB you got rid of a good part of the stupid nonsense workload with these new measures.

    Default hope so

    hi

yep I hope I have - one nagging problem was the fact that old posting rules (including freerolls in the leagues) was just asking for trouble really

it was so inevitable that with a posting requirement for freerolls - that 8/10 of the new members posting 10 posts in a hurry / just to get freeroll passwords would post junk ...

that was really negative for everyone ... the OP wasted their time (well maybe 6 minutes of their life), I wasted alot more deleting most of them & the existing member had to wade through posts before they got delete (or sending me report posts)

this way I'm fairly sure those 2/10 members who are likely to turn into active members (having found our freeroll) will post anyway - because they want to

the 10+ post 90day rule for our leagues and buy-ins is to keep those games for active members - without setting the bar too - really anyone with half an interest in the community will find they are posting that many without trying or worrying

so IMHO all postive - less admin probs & more enjoyable voluntary posting with less rules

    Default dropped 90 day rule

    hi all

not sure if everyone will have seen this in the other thread

I know some will be disappointed but after much consideration - and looking closely at the quality of the posts that the 90 day rule generates - its pretty counterproductive

so Ive dropped it - we are back to the original 10+ decent posts and 24hrs before new members can access the passwords

there will only be buy-in games in the leagues

if we run freerolls they will be for signups only via 4kingpoker - this means we dont get new members just posting for passwords as the freerolls IMHO seem to be the real issue with post quality and with password sharing

Rules are rules. I now made enough posts to play the buyin league for the Raybassmanteam. But it's important to have a lot of active members in a forum, not just for the forum, but also to get some nice games from the pokerrooms.

I hope you are making the right move by saying no freerolls at all, except for people who signed up on a 4KingPoker link.

My suspicion is that a lot of new members, and a lot of the subsequent sign ups on your links, come from people that are attracted by freerolls initially, but then stick around because they find it a friendly place to visit.

Hope it works out for you, and good luck!
