new forum layout thoughts

hi all

just wanted to get some thoughts on the new layout for the forum section - basically the feedback I've been getting was that tournament info / dates werent that visible in the forum section and also links to sites for reviews etc

let me know what you think -

is the narrower posts area - good / bad / no prob either way etc

and generally any feedback

I think it's good Bob- I like that green box that tells me all the upcoming tourneys- easy to find and read.

Looks good.I also agree about the green box.Now we can't miss when the next tournament is on.
As for the banners down the side no problem.

glad you think it's ok - it grows on you after a while as I'm finding the narrower post area actually makes them easier to read as the singel lines are not so long and stretched

the definate bonus is having the tournament info on all the pages - hope fully this should make it easier for members to see at a glance whats coming up

on the "banner" front I've always tried to avoid those flashy ever changing banners the sites encourage us to use - because they're just too flashy it feels like a bit of a hard sell

so I made some static graphics logos for the sites - that way its not a eppaleptic fit waiting to happen but people recognise the branding

I know one of the other members mentioned a while ago the thing they really hate about some forums is having those big flashy banners across the whole width of the forums at the top middle and bottom etc

hopefully keeping the design consistent through the site makes it visible to people who want the info and invisible to those who dont

since Im a new member and didnt see the forum before I cannot comment on if its better then before. I can say that as a member of many forums, I rank this up at the top. easy to navigate, laid out very well and lots of interesting information.

lol I know the owner over there and I really dont think he'd appreciate that lol

I'll mention your suggestion next time I see him - he'll be flattered

but I'd like to try and get a good site going without copying the competition even if he has got a great site

just out of curiousity what do you like about it ?
