Scrawnybob, there are many things I would love to change about this site that I have mentioned so far, but there are many more that I have not mentioned yet. Two of these involve the poker sites at which the 4kingpoker private freerolls are held each Thursday. First of all, I think they should be limited to poker sites that permit U.S. poker players to play. This would obviously increase the amount of participation among the U.S. players of this site. Second, I think the freerolls should be limited to FullTilt Poker and PokerStars, the two most popular poker sites that allow U.S. poker players. This would also increase participation because most players do not have accounts on small and unimportant poker sites such as the ones that are used for 4kingpoker freerolls. Also, both of these sites have many poker pros that play alongside online players regularly. If we strictly play on these two sites, we could definitely convince at least one poker pro to play in our private freeroll (more likely to be FullTilt). The freerolls would become more visible with a pro in them (red on FullTilt). Also, if the freerolls were consistently on these sites, the amount of members of 4kingpoker.com would grow rapidly because more freerollers would see the tournament. I believe this is the easiest way to become an elite poker forum site, and I am sure that it will work if you follow this plan exactly. Please consider this plan for the near future.
as members - you dont have to worry or deal with the backroom issues and requirements of working with all the different poker rooms
as I've mentioned in other posts - poker sites dont like running freerolls for forums past a certain point - they expect all forum / sites to generate results for them which make providing / setting up / admin of freerolls worthwhile for them
new sites get a chance to build using freeroll but after a while they mostly insist on a combination of freerolls and buy-in
while I appreciate the freerolls are great for members who are already signed up at xyz poker room - we cannot just run freerolls for existing signups at sites - we have to generate new players for the poker rooms we work with
otherwise they will NOT agree to organise them - even when they're ones we are fully funding
therefore the player numbers in our buy-in tournaments are very important to the ongoing freeroll schedule
I will be setting up freerolls and buy-ins at pokerstars
and I also take on board that for US players it is a pain to find they cant play in some of the games
equally though I have European members who want to play at Euro focussed sites at better times for them
I would like to expand the number and the prize money in our tournaments - but again this comes down to the numbers we get in buy-in games - this keeps the sites happy and enables us to request more games
In the new year I will be focussing more on FullTilt, Poker.com & PokerStars as these are US friendly
cheers scrawnybob

Scrawnybob, I think you should run a referral promotion that rewards 4kingpoker members for referring people to the site. Railbirds.com already does this and look how many members they have (over 40,000). I think this would allow the number of members on this site to at least triple in size.
personally In dislike their referal programme and others ones too in fairness -
it leads to spam - which we've had here from the site you mention
I know it might seem daft but I dont want to encourage our members into putting links to our forums in other forums willy nilly as that just creates a problem for another webmaster.
if your incentising members to get more members - with tracking code / referal name etc 9/10 the first thing that happens is they spam other forums
having been on the recieving end of it - I dont want to go pushing members to go out and refer this way
I'd would love to think that members recommend 4kingpoker to friends etc because they like it - but I'm going to look into the incentives some offer and see what I think up
but personally I think its wrong to encourage members to go arround effectively spamming forums - these referal things are very boarderline IMHO
thanks dmb for some good food for thought ;- )
if you can think of any ways members can rave about 4kingpoker online without upsetting other webmasters or being boardline spam that would be great
cheers scrawnybob

Reading the above posts makes me think you're not being appreciated,Bob. I think you're doing a great job. I know running this forum must be lots of work and headaches we just don't know about. I belong to some other forums, but this is by far the best. Getting the passwords emailed directly to me is wonderful-no guessing where to look. Keep up the GREAT work!
