posting jackpot - thoughts / issues / suggestions
hi all
well I hope everyone had a good new year's night (I'm still recovering having had man flu and trying to party too)
anyway apart from crossing my fingers on getting this weeks tournaments to run (as I'd left it a bit late to get them scheduled) & trying to get the 2 new leagues for Euro times running also starting this week (maybe a bit optomistic) - we'll see what I can get fixed but we may have to play catch up next week
anyway - on the forum posting front a couple of things to clarify / put into perspective - as the forum posting idea has been tried before as has the "posters monthly freeroll" ... all a bit deja vu really
but my general thoughts are as follows + some clarifications of perception and reality ...
the December post total was - 2708
previous months postings have not recently been anything like as low as 500 posts ...
Novemember - 1460
October - 1272
September - 1402
Quality of posts and new members posting alot in short time
While it was a bit unexpected to have a very keen new member (gnk1221) posting enough in a few days to make the number 2 slot
I've looked through their posts and I dont see any great problems in the posts - clearly gnk1221 has been prepared to put in a decent amount of time posting maybe short but certainly relevant posts - so fair play to them IMHO
The order of results by the raw numbers
this makes the raw results as follows
1. mafalda34
2. gnk1221
3. shad
4. killer
I dont think anyones posts are problematic or just posts for the sake of getting the $20 given that it's a competition and none of the above seem to me to have done anything wrong other than decide that a hell of alot of hours posting relevant posts is worth the time to earn $20
so to that end I intend to payout a total of $80 - $20 to each of the top 4 posters this month
This will be paid out by latest the middle of January so that you could use some for the $1 buy-in at FullTilt January game which will be towards the end of the month
Please bear in mind if we run the forum posting jackpot on a monthly basis - the plan was that the previous months winners would NOT be eligiable to win two consecutive months to keep it open to all - but this may not actually be the best way to reward ALL active posters / members.
so ...
Future plan / suggestions / posting freeroll instead of forum posting jackpot
ok so the forum posting jackpot has, like the last time we ran it ended up with a race for the top positions so maybe it is better to have an additional monthly freeroll (say $100) open to ALL active posters in the previous month ?
We previously ran this idea and we ended up with me sending out PM's to the top 100 posters in previous month - and then the freeroll was signed up to by I think approx 50 of those players and then only 30 maybe turned up and played ...
The problem frommy POV was sending out 100 individual PM's to qualifiying players to then only have 30 turn up ... too much hastle for the turnout
Possible Solution is to have a $100 freeroll - which would be at Carbon / Poker.com BTW where anyone who posts in a given month (maybe min 5+ posts) can then request via PM the password from me (say within the week before the game)
I would then be PM'ing out passwords only to qualifiying members who actually wanted / planned to play in the freeroll ??
My only concern with this is the password security
Anyway in short my decision given how tight this month was is to payout to the top 4 posters
but we need to make a decision on the best way forward for January onwards ASAP

Let's keep posting!
I probably couldn't make the freeroll anyway. It's hard to have it fit 100 peoples' schedules.
It was a close competition guys! Good job.Current goals on Full Tilt:

posting jackpot v posting freeroll
hi
glad everyone has enjoyed it - personally I'd prefer to keep with the jackpot as its a bit different to just running another freeroll
plus we should now be having 2 freerolls and 2 buy-ins per week
the forum posting competition isn't then dependent on being able to make a one off tournie date as this was I think why the previous forum posting freeroll didnt work too well
at least this way it's open to anyone who is will to post and get into the competition
so January's forum posting jackpot is starting - $20 each for the top 3 posters
the January prize money is open to all excluding Decemeber's winners - but keep posting all the same guys ;-)

Sounds good to me Bob! Keep up the good work sir. I like what you are doing here. I think this site has the potential to become bigger than some of the other existing ones out there.
