ok so after much debate and also some technical difficulties with my planned change of password requirements (was going to be 5+ posts but needed to be made in last 2 or 3 months) and listening to alot of feedback from members ...
the NEW posting requirement for getting the password PM's to play our private tournaments will be 10+ posts
for new members who havent posted / just joined this will take immediate effect
for existing members you will need to have made 10+ posts to recieve the password posts from 1st April onwards
but I hope that you will all post enough asap and be more involved and active because you like the forum anyway ;-)
cheers scrawnybob

I think its only fair that you do this,Scrawnybob. Not so much for the freerolls, maybe more for the forum itself. If a forum should grow the members have to participate somehow, posting, playing buyin tourneys, otherwise it will only last for so long Hope this will make it better, but im not sure.Something has to be done though,so keep up the good job!
.....and happy eastern....
I have to say that unless everyone who is a member here is a winning player, they NEED to make posts to ask for information on why they are NOT a winning player. Unless of course their the people who make 5 single line posts to get freeroll passwords and then go all in 1st hand with J 3 os. If your not asking for advice on any poker topic that means you know it all, when your learning, your growing, when your fully grown, you start to rot.
I know the amount of work involved in running a forum Bob, but I hope the flood of 1 liners that wll now be posted to get their count up will be deleted.
well said pothole. i was definitely not a winning player from the start. it took me about 6 months before i started joining forums and reading up on poker before i was a winning player. i pretty much stick to forum buyin games cause to me those are the easiest to profit from, especially when they have money added to the pot and i like guaranteed tourneys. my latest victory was in "weekend$420" on reefer poker. won $210 plus a free entry to next weekends "sunday$20Kguar". pretty sweet for a $4.20 entry. i dont contribute to the forum as much as i would like to but i try to when i can.
That with the ten posts is sure ok. In other communitys it is the same and it guaranted that only members play in the FR, not user they only registerd to play in the Freerolls. Scrawnybob, it is a good idea and however you have done a good job. I really happy, that I'll be a user of this community. And also I be very happy, that at news 4kingpoker have a connection with RedKings . Hope we see us there at the tables.
Ciao,
Bluestone
yep the possible issues with existing members just making another 5+ bad posts is unfortunately always a possibility - which was why I'd resisted BUT
having thought about it all some more and realising that having a laid back "people will post if they want to" view might not be very proactive
yes I will be editing posts that fall a long way short of the mark - but I'm also hoping that existing members will now appreciate and respect the other forum members enough to make the effort to make additional posts that are useful rather than just for the sake of the passwords
I had been worried about changing the rules for this reason - but I think / hope that the exisiting members needing more posts are no longer in the same position as new members just desperate to post 5 to get that days freeroll password - so dont let me down guys & girls
we have around 1500+ members with 5+ posts and I think they all know they forum well enough to easily add 5 more posts that are credible and helpful to get the passwords if nothing else
Why Post in Forums
I think pothole has made one of the most useful posts in the forums - that unless your a winning player you shoud be actively posting in the forum to gain help / suggestions / inspiration and others ideas to help improve
and if you are a winning player then posting here to help other members is great too
I've learnt alot from posts here - and its always a help to your game posting replies to peoples problems because it helps you think your strategy through more too
cheers scrawnybob
