NO referall links / posts for other sites allowed

hi all

due increasing number of posts with referal codes / "this site is great" etc posts ...

ANY of these types of posts are banned period

specifically anyone mentioning tailbirds.com / mankrollbob / pokersighon / freerollmonhitor or any others with referal scheme or encouraging its members to post on other sites will risk a ban and posts will deleted (site names have been adjusted but you'll know the sites if you've been posting about them)

I appreciate that some of these posts are made innocently or with the best intentions or without fully appreciating the "agenda" of the encouraging webmasters behind them

but by posting them you are (innocently or for small reward) either

a) doing those sites "dirty work" for them spamming or saving them the time and effort of spamming other forums / sites themselves

b) getting small tiny reward for effectively building their business by taking away business from other sites like oursleves - directly poaching visitors / members from our site and frankly our site is our site - not some free advertising hording for them

c) getting paid on a bulk spam effort dressed up as "genuine members" making"helpful" posts

d) posting spam on their behalf by default

4kingpoker does not encourage members to spam other forums or sites with offers, bonuses or just plain invitations to join the "best site for xyz" - therefore we dont allow it to happen to us -

If sites want to advertise themselves (these posts are at best attempts at free advertising) then they should spend money as we do on advertising - we would not be allowed to post our bonus offers or how "great" our forum or games are on their sites - so they cant on ours

what they do and encourage their members to do its the equivalent of Tesco's paying or rewarding its customers to go over to Walmart with a big advertising sign tied to their trolley and cruise the aisles badgering Tesco customers wispering in their ears that Tesco have a nicer shop with more pruduce etc

When you look at it like that it should be totally obvious that this is totally unacceptable

While I have absolutely no issue with competition or other forums / sites wanting visitors / customers - soliciting business in this way isn't on

It offends me deeply that they are happy to IMHO exploit / utilize their members in this way - as it's not a genuine case of posting something up for the benifit of our members its just poaching pure and simple - we would never encourage our members to build the business side of 4kingpoker in such a way is it reflects badly on the members as well as forums / sites who are using this form of free "marketing"

this has been covered before and is in the forum rules section - but we do allow links that are genuinely posted to be useful to members - 4kingpoker isn't totally opposed to links to other sites ...

we just dont allow links that are posted for another agenda other than to inform members of useful resources - things like linking to strategy articles / poker news etc is fine

links to other sites bonuses are NOT allowed obviously

Established members can post links to specfic pages on other sites which have information genuinely useful to members

so long as that aren't being posted for the benefit of the poster (referal bonuses / points etc), website owner or member of another site - in other words if your a webmaster just trying to get links dont think this allows you to just suddenly post links to your sites pages under the "thought it might be useful" -

in other words if your posting links for a less than genuine reason (webmasters / referal points etc) - this isnt allowed

it's common sense really - I dont want genuine members to feel they cannot post links - when they can but I won't tollerate other webmasters / referral points posters taking the pi** either ;-)
