the 11 state exclusion applies to DoylesRoom and some of the other Microgaming sites that are open to US players
this is as I understand it down to their interpretation / playing very safe with the old WIRE act which US govt like to think applies to Poker as well as horse racing bets over the telephone ... its a bit of a stretch on two fronts a) that poker is the same as horse racing b) that the original intention of the WIRE act was to stop horse racing betting over the phone applies to the internet
anyway this means DoylesRoom is open to all the US appart from the 11 states on their list
Cake and the other sites in the US open league would be open to all players

Mmmm are you sure because I made an account with no problem and I live in Indiana, if any one else knows if this is true than please let me know thank you
I like Bodog, PokerNordica, IronDuke, Intertops, but NOT Doyle's. Sorry, but I just don't trust their management. They bolted at the first hint of the UIGEA and only recently allowed US players back. And although the boilerplate is D. Brunson, the site time/ownership is strictly UK.

yes DoylesRoom like alot of other poker rooms left the US market when the UIGEA came in ... I would hardly describe it as "bolting"
alot of rooms were restricted by the decisions of the network operators - in DoylesRoom's case they were originally on the Cryptologic network which wthdrew from the US, leaving the rooms on that network no choice
when DoylesRoom pulled out of the US it did NOT stiff any of its players - they all got paid in full and then were directed by DoylesRoom to signup at FullTilt (where that left affiliates was another story)
DoylesRoom moved to the Microgaming network where clearly there is a bit more flexibility where operators on that network can decide for themselves whether to be open to US
DoylesRoom came back to the US - I had the priviledge of meeting Doyle Brunson in Barcelona just before the announcement and although he doesnt own the site he is definately a guiding light for them as well as the legendary face of poker at the site

Also to add from further clarification on the 11 state ban
DoylesRoom is US friendly Open to all US residents except those from Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nevada, South Dakota, New Jersey, and New York
from what I gather it is possible to play freeroll's but NOT cash out winnings - which it does say on the site somewhere - Players in the states above are NOT able to deposit or withdraw
This may be an issue that sways me on this for our leagues - as this could clearly be an issue for both freerolls and buy-ins for members in those states
ndirish620 have you only been playing freerolls ?
cheers scrawnybob

in light of how unclear members may find the 11 state exception on DoylesRoom I've put up another option in the polls (members who have voted already will need to put feedback in thread as they wont be able to vote again)
the other possibility is to run the US Open league at 3 sites (Carbon, Bodog & Cake) and then increase the number of games either at all the sites have 4 weeks or to increase one sites number of games eg. carbon
let me know what you think

Thank you for clearing that up and I also talked to a live chat person on Doyles Room who told me what you are saying that you can play freerolls, but can not deposit/ withdraw. I have only won money in freerolls, but then played in regular games with the winnings and still have some on there. I was also suprised to hear that Doyle Brunsen was not the owner of the site. I thought for sure that he was the owner and thats why he does all the marketing, but I guess it makes sense that he is the spokesperson I guess you could say.
My vote for future games is to play on Cake and Carbon. I respect both of those sites and now that I know Doyles xxxxxxxxxxx ... I would like to cancel my vote for Doyles and replace it with Cake and Carbon.
