we are setting up a new league of Full Tilt and PokerStars $1 buy-in only games as a separate league
(partly because I've had enough of the freeroll password issues and these are the biggest sites with the most probs keeping the passwords private) and more importantly because I want to get a more focussed league at the tow biggest sites so I can double the number of games at those sites each month
the US Open League is then left with Bodog & Carbon plus a replacement(s) for the FullTilt and PokerStars games that will now be in their own league
I am increasingly feeling that while Doyles is a good room if your not in one of those 11 states it's maybe not the best choice for the leagues
In all honestly there are other US sites - but I'm either not that keen to recommend them or they are on the same network as other sites we have in the leagues
Most likely possibility is that we run the US Open league at 3 sites over 12 weeks (increasing the games at each site from 6 games at each site to 8 at each site
Therefore US Open league potentially would be at Bodog, Carbon & Cake (24 games total)
I'm inclined to do the same with the Non US League also and have games at PKR & Titan + one of the other sites we have tried (24 games total)
The we would have the FullTilt / PokerStars Buy-in league also (24 games total)
hope that sound ok - as this is looking like a better solution all round
cheers scrawnybob

I'm sorry, but I don't see why on earth a forum would want to run a league excluding US players. CD, Titan, Pacific, etc. have decided not to have US players to avoid problems with US law. But why have tournaments at their sites? Per previous discussions, there are plenty of US friendlly sites that welcome all nationalities. If all forums would stand up to the Titans, et al, maybe they would be forced to grow a pair.

well not sure where to start with replying to the previous post
The US is not all our members - so we have members from all over the world ... and non US players can play at other sites
so we run tournaments at other sites
and bear in mind signups to new sites via our links are who help fund the tournaments open to all members including members who havent signed up via us and are existing players at sites ... we could just run tournaments only open to signups via us and not have games open to all members ;-)
on the non US sites "growing some balls" thats really easy for players who maybe have a few $100 or a few $1000 tied up online - but they have millions invested ... so they are going to make decisions that they feel are best for them ... the poker sites are owned by the poker sites ... not by their customers
the forums might like to think they have a mass of power etc but in reality forum membership if all added together is a fraction (and a pretty small one at that) of the total amount of players online
also looking at the player numbers for the top Non US sites - like Ipoker ... they are a pretty big share of the market ... US players are obviously very important ... all our members are but we are a global forum not a US exclusive forum
I would love to run more leagues at US friendly sites - but the economics of that is not possible
so your choices as members are have whats on offer ... or have half the amount which would be US open
yes the US open / closed issue is an issue for US players ... but it isnt an issue for the rest of the world and I'm not about to start not running games at other sites that are as good or better than alot of US open sites and exclude these choices for the rest of the world because they are not US friendly
Taking it out on the poker sites - or poker forums isnt the answer - if US players really want to make a difference then join and send money to the PPA or other lobby groups and write to your sentors etc ... they made the rules that have made sites make tough decisions
trust me all the poker rooms would all rather be in the US than have had to spend alot of money devloping and changing all their businesses ... they also spend alot of money on legals etc trying to get the US issue moved forward ... so I think its a bit unfair to suggest that they are somehow the problem
cheers scrawnybob
