This is a new attempt to get rid of non members who crash our games (particularly the freerolls) -
If you have placed or won money in our freeroll's you need to "claim your screen-name"
Then we can then contact the host poker room for them to deal with these cheap skates who are crashing private freerolls and games like ours, stealing money they have no right to and most irritatlingly messing up our league points for the good members
any unclaimed usernames not claimed by members will run the risk of investigation and
will be dealt with by the host poker rooms accordingly ... this will mean offending accounts could be frozen and money confiscated.
I probably wont get money back that I've put up where I've funded the games ... but I more interested in these idiots getting the message.
This wont make awarding league points any easier as it could mean alot of changes to points awarded ... but you'll just all have to bear with it on that front.
the main thing is this a new idea we have introduced for use on only some of the games - principly the freerolls
the big problem with any of these ideas to improve things is it is totally reliant on participation ... and as I've posted in another thread about ideas to reduce password stealers / posters etc ... the ones most likely to take part are the ones that are least likely to be part of the problem
looking at the number of US members who have updated their profile when given a chance to reduce the number of unapplicable password PM's ... the number of members claiming their screen names will be low.
this is why I've abandoned the idea of screen name lists in everyones profiles ... because unless we have near total participation ... it would be a system that wouldnt do what it set out to
The main thing with the "concept" of the claim your name idea is to act as a disincentive to non members to play our games ... the most important thing is to get across to them the risk of having money (they were not eligible to win) confistated by poker rooms and possible banning / freezing of accounts
We are giving them notice that they may be wasting their time and risking their bankrolls ... of this gets across EXTERNALLY that we are doing something about them hopefully over time they will either join and follow the rules ... or stay away
I am fairly sure there are members who win who are unlikely to post in the "claim your name" threads ... but equally if the non members know we are aware that they are not members ... in time they will start to stay away... especially when some of them end up with banned accounts
cheers scrawnybob

I've always been kind of interested in seeing some of the stats coming out of tournaments like this... I'm a member of a couple of poker forums and it seems like every time around there are people complaining about non-members playing and the like. It's a shame that the poker rooms in a lot of ways shirk the whole situation and pass it off as being the responsibility of the tournament organizers to keep PW's secure. Hopefully with enough feedback though (such as through threads like this one), they can be more aware of the situation and maybe look for a way to assist those who host private tournaments to keep them more private.
A great idea and it also helps identify poker accounts, that some people may be interested in, in the relation of sorting this problem out at different forums.
One name in the threads on this subject is a well know password sharer, site owner of a password sharing site, and a No good for nothing pain in the arse, that more than one person in the computer poker world is trying to get "there" poker stars account Stopped. Every bit of information helps.
Keep Up the Good Work Bob, well done

ADD ON:- I want to clarify some thing brought to my attention:- When I siad "One Name in the Threads" It dosn't NECESSARILY MEAN THIS THREAD, IT means ANY THREAD ON THIS FOURM on THIS SUBJECT It also means OTHER FORUM THREADS I may be or may not be a Member of that forum.
Point Being some people are very hacked of with Players and Forum members not only in this forum, sharing passwords to Private Tournaments, and DO intend to do some thing ABOUT IT. "Capice" GT.
