The schedule for the new leagues series is being formalised. I assume it will operate similarly to the previous leagues.

It has always been the case, and I 'm sure it will be the same in the new season, that the games have been split evenly between the times.

The NON US League has tourney times of 8PM BST, is this not conducive to your needs?

The new FT v PS leagues has time to suit both time zones of players. Also suit?

There is a nice bodog tournament again on sat at 10pm GMT.

Really don't see there's much to query here. I'm a BST'r myself and if I'm not in a 4kp game theres plenty of sites offering games 24/7. I think the forum accomodates both sets of players well.

Default tournament times

hi

this has been covered at length

and the new leagues and money added to run more games should address some of these issues but it simply isnt possible to keep everyone happy ... believe it or not I get requests for games to be run around when one person or another is having their tea, walking the dog or their favourite tv show ... which is frankly rediculous

bear in mind the forum is 60% US and 40% rest of the world - I try to accomodate everyone

we orginally had one league with 2 games per week on Sundays at 3pm EST (so everyone could in theory play ... with a total of $100 per week up for grabs

I have continously added as many tournament as I can afford and also spare the time for - to be honest we are now getting to critical point with news season having games on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Sundays ... with the possible addition in the future of Wednesdays for team only league (no promises)

With the site being a near fulltime job as it is, then adding on the hours of running tournaments 3 nights / days per week that means me having no social or family life on 3 nights per week ... the sites themselves run games 24/7 because they have millions and lots of staff.

in the next season of leagues ... we have the

US Open league - Open to all but at times better suited to US (ie. weekdays at 7pm EST is 12 midnight UK)

games will be at 7pm EST on Tuesdays and Thursdays ... $100 per week in prizes

at Carbon Poker, Bodog Poker & Cake Poker

Non US league - Open to non US players at times better suited to UK and Europe (ie. weekdays at 3pm EST / 8pm GMT)

games will be at 3pm EST / 8pm GMT on Tuesdays and Thursdays ... $100 per week in prizes

at PKR Poker, Titan Poker & probably Pacific Poker

FullTilt v PokerStars League - Due to the fixation with members playing at FullTilt & PokerStars we now have an additional buy-in only league on Sundays at both 3pm EST & 7pm EST

games will be at 3pm EST & 7pm EST on Sundays alternating between early and late slots for both FullTilt & PokerStars ... $100 per week in prizes

Increasing the total prize money from $100 per week to $300 per week isnt exactly not offering members a big choice of games and times to play at !!!!!!!

With the additional league leaderboard winners prizes this puts the total prize money per 12 week season up to a (IMHO) not to be sniffed at $3900 per season

For those members who are diehard fulltilt or pokerstars freerollers ... I'm afraid you have a simple choice if you want to play in more of our games ... either deposit and play in the new FullTilt v PokerStars Buy-in league at two different times on Sundays (suitable for everyone) ... or signup to the sites in the other leagues and play the freerolls (and hopefully the buy-ins in those leagues

setting a halfway time does not solve any problems ... for weekday games it would mean that US players are still at work so wouldnt play. On the weekends Sunday is the only option for me and alot of people want Friday and Saturday free from poker

so if we had a mid time on Sunday then you'd all basically have 1 game instead or 2 at pokerstars / fulltilt

hope thats a help

cheers scrawnybob

hey mort.

its a bit different from the leagues we are playing, these format will leave the door open for players actually to join during the games and though the prizes are gonne be individual (freerolls 1-10) (buy-ins 50 added) the scores are gonna get calculated as team points.
it used to be better when i joined btw,,,
but hey look at me! im 2 hours after you in any given game and till now they already knew at work about thursdays but now it gonna be even harded lol.
thats why all the players from all teams can play so every teamy will play hes best when he can and chearing the others while we dont.
youre playing the forum league today mort? im playing the latest one

3 leagues 3 team scores

3 team scores combined = overall team score.

Thats what i take from it all. And that there might be something for the highest scoring team in each league, an extra tourney or something.

I initially limited my group to "European" as I thought there was the makings of an intercontinental battle. The idea didn't really take ground and it became clear that it was best to try and include a breadth of players in each team. I think most teams have a good balance in their structures. Is there something in particular Jacks?

Default sod em and other questions and answers

hi all

Sod em

I could easily say sod em to all sorts of sub groups ;-) ... but I dont

the US members moan about times for them and see the non US league games as a waste, the Non US members want games at US open sites but at non US times

this simply cant be done ... I am not going to endlessly throw my money into a bottomless pit setting up tournaments only at the biggest two sites for members who are already existing members ... that is what their standard games are there for 24/7

I've already doubled the number of games at the top 2 sites (now on Sunday now at US & Non US times) ... I thought people would be pleased that this addresses the time issue and more games ... obviously not

I'm sure it wont be long before members who only play FT and Stars freerolls moan that they havent got any freerolls !

we could just as easily make the entry to tournaments directly based on who signs up to sites via our links and only run tournaments at xyz sites for members who sign up to xyz site

after all it is those members and visitors who sign up to sites via our links who 100% subsidise ALL the tournaments that I set up and run ... and our visitor traffic is substantially higher than forum traffic

so I really think members need to realise that all the tournaments that happen at all which are open to everyone happen ... are directly as a result of signups via our links ... principly visitors and some forum members ... that sounds harsh it's not sposed to but sometimes I feel the forum needs a bit of a reality check

we could have less tournaments or more tournaments ... it's that simple

more is obviously more and less is obviously less

I could just as easily save myself the expense and the time and drop the tournaments ... which would obviously be a shame and not somthing I would want to do

We have a league for US time and a league for Non US time ... they have to be at different sites because these are the sites I want to work with not just US friendly sites ... I've already added the FullTilt / PokerStars league to try and keep the forum happy with both times at the same sites

Members really need to be a bit more open minded and try some new sites ... we cannot run games 24/7 for everyone ... that is the job of the poker rooms themselves and they have the money to do it (and also directly earn money for doing so)

League Scoring Front (teams in normal leagues)

Nucking is right

3 leagues ... 3 sets of individual points ... which teams then use to get 3 sets of team points

you can then add them to make a total score if you like too

we will then hold 3 maybe 4 freerolls at the end for the winning team of each of the leagues

DoylesRoom / Pacific

DoylesRoom was the 4th site option for the US Open league ... so it wasnt planned as a replacement or addition for the Non US league

but I decided after feedback from the forum that we maybe had too many sites in the leagues that I would reduce the sites to 3 for the US Open League and 3 for the Non US League

This means 2 more games at each of the sites

as yet Pacific is not confirmed as our 3rd site on Non US League - but I'm hoping they will want to continue to work with us.

Rant or Reality Check ?

Sorry for the rant - but really everyone needs to get the difference between what a poker room with millions can do and what I can do when I have to balance the books before I put any tournaments on ...

otherwise I might just take the $18,000+ I'm putting into the forum prizes etc this year ... and spend it on a WSOP seat or two for myself instead

cheers scrawnybob
