Default NEW 6 MAX Teams for NEW SEASON

    hi all

Just to let everyone know as soon as possible -

Ive decided to make a couple of changes for this coming season (starts in Jan 2010) to the leagues - Ive given this alot of thought over the season and in the last couple of weeks - so this is my decision and isnt up for discussion

The teams will now be changed to a maximum of 6 members per team

hopefully everyone will get on board this idea - I appreciate that on the face of it some maybe opposed to the idea but I've run this idea past a few that were unsure and they can see the benefits / neccessity of this change in view of my other plans for the leagues ...

I will be making more leagues team & individual leagues (like the Fulltilt league)

I am hoping to add an additional US friendly league - possibly Cake Poker

so this would mean 4 separate team & individual leagues - Bodog League, Fulltilt League & Merge League + Possible Cake League

Please note we may have a change hosts from Carbon to another Merge site I have lined up as things support wise havent been the same since Richard left and Dean got promoted

    Restructuring teams

From the feedback in the team threads I can see there was alot of members reviewing being in 10 man teams because they felt they couldnt do the teams justice or play in certain sites leagues etc etc

changing to 6 max teams should solve some of these issues as if a team has say 2-3 active players in a league they would have a good chance against other 6 max teams

I urge ALL members who are in teams to be as active and co-operative with captains / new captains etc so we can take the team leagues to a new level - with more games / leagues and more competition where everyone can be in the running IF they are active within their new teams

in terms of team names etc - we need new teams forming but I am perfectly happy if old team names are kept or lost on a team by team / captain by captain basis

feel free to discuss and ask about any clarification on this change and league hosts etc - but the actual change itself to 6 max teams is not up for discussion (dictatorial I know but I feel on this on its the only way to get everyone onboard and into the new formate successfully)

captains and members can start changes from now on - new leagues will start mid January

most importantly we will need more captains - this formate should be much much better in terms of new teams forming and having a credible chance to compete so please get involved / remain involved

PLEASE DISCUSS IN THIS THREAD ONLY

    cheers scrawnybob

Bob, I think this is a great idea because even if you have an active 10 man roster you probably only get 5 or 6 in during one game. Hopefully it will allow those with smaller teams to be more competitive and I think this makes for a better format all around. Thanks Bob....

Default I know its a pain but I think its positive move

    hi

yep I know its a pain but I think its definately the right move for ALL teams POV and for the forum as a whole

I would have done this last season - but to be honest I'm glad we have done this in 2 stages ... because with the clear out last season and 20 places being scored ...

team captains and members can see who is and isnt playing and make new 6 man teams with this info readily available

a couple of the teams will likely regroup each into 2 teams (5ish members)

some of the middling teams would have been shedding "inactive" members anyway (these will likely come in under 6 members after "tidying"

then there will be members in much less active teams who would have lost interest ... these teams can amalgamate OR tidy up now the max is 6 players it becomes far less of a stress for those less active teams

BTW I hope that ANY members dropped from teams are notified by the respective team captains - so they can get new homes in other teams

anyway this is a one off change + I genuinely think its a positive one (otherwise I wouldnt have just changed the rules)

    cheers scrawnybob

I love it. I posted this up a little while ago as a suggestion because it would simply make it much more competitive and I love it. It will also slightly reduce the "team play" factor. We had games where half the table was one team and the play of the game was definitely changed. So I'm stoked about that effect as well. Thanks for the update and lets get moving everyone.

One more suggestion. You mentioned having to possibly change from Carbon. I would suggest going with Easy Play Poker. I've had decent response time with their guy in charge and like the sites direction. Just a sugg.

Default aced most likely replacement for carbon

    hi

I'm pretty much decided on aced as a replacement site for carbon -

its unfortunate that I feel the need to change at all to be honest - but people on carbon used to be great but now I feel like we've not got that same relationship now those people have moved on

on the positive side I think moving games to Aced will be good for members ...

I've known the guy who handles affiliates over at aced for a few years and he is a good guy and also all our signups will get maximum allowed aced rakeback at 30% rakeback + 100% up to $500 bonus

to be sure to get the best bonus AND rakeback - clear your cookies then signup via 4kingpoker using the links in our reviews here or here

In short I feel alot happier recommending Aced to all our members where I can get rakeback for everyone signed via us (on carbon it seemed they only wanted to bother to only be new signups which I wasnt happy with)

deposit and withdrawl options should be similar to Carbon as they are both on the Merge network

and I am also planning to run a freeroll at aced before the start of the new season (maybe for our signups + an approved list) we'll see

Any change is hard, but if is the best for the forum and games lets do it.

I like the idea that Bodog/Cake (week games) be teams also, and the fact that all will be Team but also individual will help a lot. Also i like the idea to have a free game for the new room (aced), that way the ones (me include) that do not have the site or a BR there can try to get some before leagues start.

Now every one had to be aware that do not need to be in team to play games, but for the competition spirit is great to be part of a team so lets see if we can have more teams fighting. And for my fellow Rounders, well, we need to break up, but now we can show that numbers is not the only reason why we win both leagues, so good luck to all and see you in the games.

I agree it should make the competition for League Championships much closer than it was this past season. With more Teams competing it will give the smaller Teams 1/2 a chance. But the solid Teams like the Top 3 will still be the top Teams.A Team like like Rounders who had 10 reliable dedicated players out to every game will only need to split and add 2 more reliable players.
But I do like the Idea. Then at Least Rounders 1 will have some competion against Rounders II. lol And it will be better for those teams too.I agree it must be very disappointing to sit down and find you have 7 Team Mates at the same table.
Cheers ,, have a good holiday season

Sounds all real good. I like the idea of 6 max per team. Also the individual and team scoring. I have an account at Aced - and seems like a good place!

    Looking forward to next season

Will get on sorting out the team after the holidays
    Cheers

On recommendation of Bob, Rounders going to be break in 3 teams of 4-3-3, that means that we need 2-3-3= 8 players, so now can stop be afraid, but if after that 3 teams break still we are in top places so sorry, we cant do more

And remember the change is not only in teams, also in Sites, so you going to have Fulltilt-Aced-Bodog-Cake, 4 leagues with same team, probably not all can play in all sites so every one have the chance to win a league.
