Here,s another idea,thought and option.I do remember when if you were not a member of a Team you couldn,t play because you didn,t get the PW.This would definately reduce the number of players in the game i believe.And I see nothing wrong with players without a Team having a chance to play and even win the Individual honours.
The problem I hear from many of the players who don,t want to commit to a Team is because of work shift schedules or other obligations they are not able to attend every game.And lets face it to be a Top Team you need all your 4 players out every game to gather up at least some points for the Team.They don,t want to let down a Team but still wish to play.And the top Teams wouldn,t ask a player back to the Team who was unreliable and failed to show up for half the games.
So there is a solution.I know of another Team League where a Team consists of 6 players(more players) but only the Teams top 3 player scores are counted for the game.So if a Team only gets 4 or 5 players out to the game they could still score the most points for that game.Of course it would be better to have all 6 players show up to better your Teams odds but not impossible to still score the best.ESPECIALLY if the points were only given out to the top 15 places instead of the top 30 places as it is now.It would be truly interesting as some weeks Teems may get shut out of the points or only have 1 or 2 players make it into the top 15 and thus accumilate points.There would be more chances for dramatic swings in standings.
Teams would be more likely to sign up a good player even if that player couldn,t make every game thus growing the number of League players.If the number of players increased significantly you could adjust the scoring positions up to 20 lets say or 1/2 the avg. field to be decided.
Drawbacks ...... I don,t know how much more work it would involve for Bob or if the new carbon stats would help out with keeping track of point standings.
There also might be more temptation for Team Soft Play or even chip dumping by maybe Racing against a Team Mate for stacks as only the Top 3 players scores on the Team count anyway.A watchful eye would need to be kept and some arguments could ensue.Or have a total no rules, no holds barred, everything is good attitude to this part of the game so there could be no possible arguments.
On second thought after looking at the downsides, and that this is so radically different a concept from what is in place now and Bob,s vision I don,t think its a good idea.Its too much change.It sounded like a good way to increase League enrollment but to Police the rules of Team Play would be too much work and probably lead to arguments.I think the honour system in place now works but I don,t know if it would with this style of game.
So ,, just think of it as a whimsical idea to read for your amusement.Only suggestion from this may be dropping the points from 30 to 20 positions to give the Teams missing a player a more even playing field.

Hey Dan & PO, what you guys are doing in your couple of posts to each other here is in any other sport league illegal, in other words you can't tamper with players from other teams before they are free agents and players can't put themselves out on the market to see if they have any suiters before going into free agency so you both need to pot a lid on it !!!J/K fella's have at it, hell who cares it's only a game

Knot to sure what you are refering to, but the best place 2 play is on Full Tilt. alot of the members show up on the FT games month in month out, wud diffently hate 2 lose our Full Tilt league...Carbon been very iffy lately and with its new updates and all
