Default Team Play, Soft Playing & Team Favouritism

hi

ok so this is a GENERAL NOTE and I am not about to get into a witch hunt or somekind of name and shame ... I also dont expect anyone else to either

what's happened or not happened WILL be put down to a one off / teathing problems

SO it is crystal clear I do NOT want any soft play in ANY games, team orders or team play in ANY games ... PERIOD

I do not want to have to get involved in lengthy investigation of suggestions or proof of any soft play / team play / collusion etc in any of our games

The solution I dont want to have to take if soft play etc becomes an issue will I'm afraid be simple, unfortunate and absolute ...

entire teams will just be banned from playing as a team

then if it continues to be problematic I will just delete all the teams and that will be the end of that

The whole team idea is to create some sportsman like rivalry and some additional games and competition for the leagues ... if it decends into more having to oversee various disputes and forum
shenanagins ... I will just stop the games and the team angle on things

At the end of the day the buck stops with me and while I want to give all members a chance to have more games and talking points etc if the team thing is going to create more problems than postives ... it will be dropped

this is not a topic for futher discussion - I've made my ruling - no one has been singled out and I do not want this to be discussed further - just understood this is the rules and so long as everyone follows and understands that from here on in ... that's an end of it

cheers scrawnybob

Default soft play

so what exactly is soft play? is that like checking down a hand? or does it have something to do with foreplay?

Default chip dumping / going easy on team mates

hi

anything like chip dumping, going easy on team mates - just all the obvious things

as we now have a team angle to the leagues I just wanted to cover the obvious rules that are more likely to come into play with teams element to the scoring etc in the leagues

common sense really

But as it's a team game then surely you should protect your team not knock them out.

Whilst tonight's game is a team only game, and doesn't score any points, the games that will score for teams are fundamentally individual based league games. I think that is perhaps where the confusion arises. They aren't team games as such. I support the rule and would love eveybody just to play their everyday game and not let the team thing have such an influence. Thats proper poker. I hope this clears your

scrawnybob and all,

am sure in agreement with you on this ban of

"team play".

was on a team at another fourm where the

teams dumped chips, soft played and told

all other team members what cards they were

playing via msn messenger.

everyone seemed to eat it up....except me.

so i bowed out.

honestly, i thought it was kind of silly and was

not fun at all.

agree, lets just play our regular game. and if

that means knocking out a team-mate...so be it;

just means more chips for the superior player on

the team.

go team,

donvic

I'm really glad to hear that collusion and chip dumping are not tolerated. I recently participated in a male vs female tournament at another forum (My-Local-Poker) and my experience was not good (except that I won the event!) On several occasions, after raising with good cards, one of my male team mates acting behind me would reraise, and then become upset when I continued to play and eventually win the hand. Their interpretation of team play was more or less, that when a team mate "tapped-in" with a raise, you should dump your chips. I hated it and won't play that format at MLP again.

Default Just common sense

hi

It really all comes down to common sense - its inevitable that the odd player with the odd hand is going to fold to a team mates all-in etc ... thats just an inevitablity of being part of a team ... I'm not naive enough to think this isnt going to happen occasionally

but its the habitual / co-ordinated and consitent stuff that I want to avoid

ie. the kind of thing that is going to fill my PM in box with complaints from other teams and just give me a an admin headache I can do without

so just use common sense ladies and gents ;-)

cheers scrawnybob

Since I am new to the team here, I am glad to have this clarified. The question came up in last nites game and no one had the answer.

So the bottom line is: play your own game and try to win for yourself. This is not team play. You should play as if there are no teams.

Do I have this right?

If that is true, then why are people asking who is on what team?

I've played a 12 week team play before and the whole point of team play is to protect your team by helping them along.
As it's Private games then you can not be done for collusing etc by the poker site but I don't think using MSN etc can be tolerated.
