getting 'bitter'.. definitely not 'better'

hi all

bikering and calling out from anyone / everyone isnt what this forum is about - regardless of how good or bad anyone is, how long they've been here, who is / isnt in a team etc etc ... I dont like it when I have to deal with these things

because it just decends into negativity all round ... not good

we arent going to please everyone all of the time - but by the same token there is no need to cut into members who are not happy ... or if your not happy cut int members either

I might not be able to get games to suit everyone - and the premise of the site is that the games are open to anyone who is a member and follows the posting rules - but while orifice may not have expressed it particularly well - he's just pointing out some wider issues that I've been concerned about for sometime

this and a whole host of other reasons / feedback / regular non team members complaining about how the regular leagues have changed recently

and why I am now reviewing the whole team angle on all of the regular league games ... there is a very much larger silent majority of members (who arent in teams) who have got issues with how much the tone and feel of the league games has changed for the worse ...

so while I might not entirely agree with poker orifice in terms of the quality of some games ...

I appreciate the freerolls are a bun fight (thats freerolls) the $1 buy-ins have a much smaller field so I dont really see that as so much of a problem (and making the buy-in higher would just mean I spent time trying to run games that get cancelled)

we have got the monthly VIP games for 50+ post members which I would expect to be more challenging ... but poker is poker and bad beats and bad play will happen

that said there is very definately issues with having team scoring in the regular games ...

I've been concerned about this for sometime as this isnt the first time "cleakiness" and "incrowd" and "unfriendly" have cropped up in messages to me from a good deal of members who are becoming unhappy directly as a result of how the "team" angle has not been adopted in the way I proposed - ie. friendly, non serious, non confrontational way to build the community and most importantly encourage other less active members to join teams and get more involved ...

I havent made my decision yet as to how best to sort this out but the above thread is where I will annouce my decision and where members can put forward their opinions / suggestions etc ... bear in mind there IS a silent majority that are not prepared to speak up ... which in itself suggests the team thing in the leagues HAS created a negative effect and not the positive one I have hoped and planned for

and my decision will be final and fair under the circumstances

It is an extension of a philosophy on poker. Be at peace with your play. If you are playing "the best poker". You will come out ahead. Sorry if it is bland. I think simplicity has a lot to offer.

Just got the sense a little more directive discussion about the issues fom a quality player might have assisted the situation. KISS is the correct advice for beginners and there is no need to apologise, the advice is good. You do keep your approach simple and relatively quiet. Maybe that is something we could all benefit from.

Then again being together and having known your own team mates for sometime is an excellent backdrop for keeping it simple

What though if everyone took this approach? Simple might be good but never great...and it does nothing to foster aspiration. Maybe you've reached a point in your poker life where aspiration isn't such a strong factor, I know the OP hasn't

Is this with reference to last night and me leaving the game abruptly or more an opinion based on the fact that I won't kneel down if front of you and be annointed?

Last night was hard for me and I think anyone that takes the time to have known and watched me over the year that I've been here would perceive last night as a one off. I try as often and with everyone to welcome them to tables and complement them on leaving with gg or something to that effect. I won't spout drivel at a table, doesn't mean I'm not foaming the mouth. Accepting the pain of loss is more than passing it off as something that happens or that you could have done nothing about it.

If it takes me a little longer than you to deal with my pain does that make me a bad person? a weak person? or does it just give YOU another excuse to get on my back? not that you need it, you'll do it anyway despite how many times you've been asked and told not to.

From someone like you jacks I expected more on the poker front, both in the games and on the forum. I still do.

I think maybe (as I'd rather hoped) this warning has given everyone a bit of thinking time and a chance to reflect on how things can go from being "competitive" to petty or unfriendly generally - I'm not going to get into specifics because it was a general feeling

I hope that as a result of a bit of a heads up to everyone that the most important thing is the conduct and friendliness in the forum -

which means we can carry on with the team angle in all the league games for the rest of the season

so lets get back on track - enjoy all the games & keep the forum useful, friendly and helpful for everyone
