Default Controversity at the Full Tilt freeroll 10/5/08

I had a great run at todays FT freeroll and busted out at 8th.

I've been gone a while, and didn't recognize many of the names under the buttons.

I did see a huge honking pissing contest go down between 2 players, that had highlights of 1) why did u call that and each screaming at each other on the validity of their position and call/action, that devolved into a "are you a member" debate

I think that they both were members, but don't know. They both claimed to have started threads here on the forum about the, well, for a lack of a better word, controversy, that they started. After the game, and hours later I still haven't found such a thread.

I then played in the Pokerstars freeroll, and noticed certain players talking about the controversy, and saw chat messages about how it was on an administrative thread. Beats me what the hell that is!

Irregardless, In my humble opinion, you 2 guys at Full Tilt, just couldn't let it go. You are both good players, and both made valid points. I think you should both be castigated for letting it go so far and so long (consider this post as your castigation). While I doubt that you 2 will "kiss and make up", please consider aquiring an, at least, begrudging respect for each other.

Remember, we are all just here for the joy of poker and learning from each other. As the logo here at the forum says, don't get bitter, get better.

Aye sometimes you just have to let it go. It really is not that important why someone called what flop with what hand in what position. Sometimes If I make a bad call and get lucky and the other player starts questioning then I think to myself, instead of noting that I make bad calls and play me accordingly, this dude is now tilting a bit, if I can get him again he will rain his chips on me.... likewise when asked why I called what with what in the position I was in, I am likely to either ignore them or say 'don't know maybe to get a few chips from you' and let the tilting begin.

    Default both threads were deleted

    hi

bottom line is both threads were deleted by me

given the previous NK situation getting way out of hand and not being able to get that resolved (or getting it resolved only for it to flare up again & again) I am NOT interested in letting these sorts of disputes get air time or inflamed on the forum

    so both threads got deleted

IMHO disagreements on the tables once vented on the forum have a habit of taking on a life of their own (negatively) ... that in all probability if not posted on and given time to cool off ... would be less likely to be such a problem

I am not going to get involved in who is right who is wrong etc ... as in the past acting as a mediator has resulted in me getting all the aggro from all involved, no-one making up and no-one behaving in the best interests of the forum

so I'm not taking sides ... obviously it goes without saying members are expected to behave respectfully on the tables in our games ... we are a community after all

but trying to rationalise and sort out these sort of disputes is inherently likely to fail ... as there is a problem in the first place ... and if there is a consistent problem with a member then obviously it will get dealt with

BUT I AM NOT going to tollerate or go through the whole NK experience again

    cheers scrawnybob

Thumbs up It was still fun

Yes, I believe that there may have been a problem, as I was moved to the table with
the "combatants" some time shortly after whatever happened had happened. I didn't
really witness anything awful and my play wasn't disrupted really, but again, I wasn't there for IT. What I witnessed seemed good natured and comical, of course I did not have the chance to read the postings here, so I cannot say what direction it was taking.
I thought everyone played well and made their own mistakes and I would say that the
finishing order would have been a "fair" representation of how we all played if not a reflection of our skills or abilities. But HEY!! what tournament have you EVER played in that was a mirror of participant's intelligence/skill!?!?!?! I had fun, yucked it up and believe I made some new friends and don't feel like I have any more enemies than I did when I woke up yesterday morning. I haven't been able to play/participate in near as many of the events/activities that this forum offers, mainly because of the "Real World" B.S. that I drag myself through on a daily basis. That is my burden and the ability to leave that stuff where it belongs is 1 of my many blessings. Not having the
"By-the-Book" poker skills as so many of my oppenents possess is my curse/blessing
also. Online is QUITE different from live, there are so many variables in EVERY game/
tournament/hand that I find hard to believe there are pat answers on how to play any of it. Where I live, I have a "reputation". Because of my size/stature, I scare people. I shave my head because frankly I look like an idiot with the half head of hair that does
grow and it is simply easier to maitain. But this itimidates folks too. I can rarely find a "live" game where I can play more than 1/2 an hour before everyone "has to go", whether I even win a hand or not! I get the "look" & give the "look", but I am viewed
as an old west "gun-slinger". I just enjoy a Good Game, winning/losing aside, games are
supposed to be fun. Everyone has their own definition of fun, or say how to play poker.
Every time I play I learn something, and I still make certian mistakes repeatedly. But I
WAS lucky yesterday, hell, I didn't have the heart to tell anyone I was dealt> AA, KK,
    QQ(twice) JJ, & 1010 all within the first 10-12 hands I played yesterday. I ain't really
superstitious, but I took that as an omen and played looser than I ever had before.
Worked for a bit, drew out a lot, but yeah my luck ran out as luck always does. See ya'll out there, can't wait to see what happens next! HA! And I REALLY DID HAVE FUN!!!
So, DON'T GET BITTER, GET BETTER, right? Great slogan/motto! Hello to my new friends
and hello to my new friends I haven't met/played with yet. Good LUCK

    Later
    Lucky

I'm not to worried about the who's a member/not a member business. I figure that's scrawnybob's job. He'll take care of it in his usuall cheerful and professional manner.

Lucky Rodgers, you also played great.

I was at the table when this stuff started. It really wasn't any worse than stuff you normally see when someone takes a bad beat. The problem came when it went on way too long. Neither player could let the other guy have the last word. My problem with it was that I was so into reading the chat that I was having trouble focusing on the game.. Both players were very good at the game, and other than the fact that they took my chips, I enjoyed playing with them.

I want to apologize for what happened yesterday. I did make a post about it here, only because memebers of this forum should not be calling names and berating another player for his/her play. That kind of stuff happens far too much with random players, I just aint gonna stand for it with someone who is a member of the same community as me.

I also did PM Scrawnybob and asked to resolve it so that it does not get out of hand here on the forum and he deleted both threads to dissolve the situation. I have played with most of you before and what happened is not a normal behavior and I dont really see it going down the same way if it happens again.

Next time it does happen to me though I am not going to respond to the villain like I did last time. I am just gonna say "thanks" and report the chat to the poker room like I usually do. Thats how people like that learn anyway, once they lose their chat privelidges for 3 months they will think twice about the things they say.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

    Default thanks GNK

    hi GNK & all

thanks for your post on the forum - I think definately the best course of action in these sorts of situations ...

thanks GNK for dealing with it in the best way as this avoids it flaring up in the forum ... as posting about it in the forum generally seems to make these sorts of problems get worse and not better and harder to then sort out (hopefully to the satisfaction of those on the recieving end)

as a general note its probably best to deal with table chat / 4kingpoker game players issues like this ...

    a) PM me about an issue so I know who is involved and roughly what has happened

    b) Dont post on the forum about it ... as passions will be running high and it just adds fuel to the fire

    c) Report offensive chat to the respective poker room support ... after all just because they are our private games they are still on a poker room and their rules apply ... and our games will get the same support as any other game

this way the situation as GNK pointed out gets dealt with by the room and I am able to "have a quiet word" with the offending player WITHOUT having to concede that the wronged player "had a go too"

    hope this makes sense

    cheers scrawnybob
