You can beat the other players but you can't beat the cards. Luck is a major portion of the game, how else do you explain someone who plays 2 8 offsuit and wins the hand with a nine high straight. Last night I watched a WPT game from a few years ago and a poker legend went allin preflop with eight queen offsuit. This player was called by two other players and lost. This player was not short stacked. When this play is made by an unknown he is a donkey but when played by someone who has a title its either a bad beat or if they win the hand they are a hero. We all make donkey plays at one time or another.

i dont know i think u can beat the cards
but not the players
people play crap all the time
and it is really hard to play with bad players
espicially when they play ace anything and chase and chase
u get so use to it anymore

I agree with sassy you can beat the cards by playing carefully, and choosing your moments to strike. The only thing that prevents you from that is that one guy that swears, just one day, his 9-2o will catch and win him a big pot. Or something to that affect. The players and their, lack of caring (read as haphazardly calling with rag hands, also known as donkism, a medically untreatable condition), that is what makes you loose the monster hands and makes you get "donkified" It is the players, making what would 9 times outta 10 be the absolute dumbest call on the history of this planet, that catch and beat you out. That is where the true fight lies, that is what you can't beat.
