What really is a badbeat? Can anyone explane to me?
A bad beat on-line is basically when you have the best hand preflop, on the flop, and on the turn, but the river card gives your opponent the best hand and beats you. eg - You have pocket Aces and your opponent has pocket Kings, the flop comes Q T T, the turn is Q, and the river is a King - you lose to the full house (KKKQQ).
However, some casinos have a bad beat pool - eg. at my local casino you have to have a minimum full house AAAQQ beaten by quads or better, and both players have to use their two down cards.
A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.
Thanks for describing what a bad beat is. I've heard the term before along with several others that I didn't know the meaning. You explanation was easy for me to understand. Good luck at the tables with few "Bad Beats".![]()

At what level would you consider a bad beat in terms of perentages etc
E.g Id say 70%+ AK v AQ etc
Also bad beats can be more painful against a bigger or equal stack whereas if you lose against a small stack it doesnt hurt as much![]()
Had no idea there was so much to consider on odds and the information available about odds. I can see where a lot of time could be spent reading and studying about odds and etc. Thank you for the sites you provided on odds. I hope to find time to take a look at them in the near future.
yea I would say anything in the 70% chance to win or better is a badbeat and the higher it is the worse it is. you really got to love the morons that call a pot sized raise on the turn drawing to a gutshot str8 draw and hit that 8% river to get paid off for playing so badly those are the ones that get to me. that and the reraise all-in to a donk on draw and then they say I'm pot commited. Now is it just me or is pot commitment only for calling and not raiseing after you have only called 1/4th of your chips you can't think that 1/4th of your chips means you have to reraise all-in on draw. I just dont pay to much attn. to commitment cause I dont ever feel im commited enough to call when im beat but thats just me
My most beautiful bad beat is 9 and 2 in the preflop and ends by a square of 2 mdr.
Sometimes bad beat serves well all the same lol.
