The answer is quite simple. If you don't enjoy that part of the forum, don't go there.

I don't ever post bad beats, I don't ever visit the bad beat section of forums, and they have no interest to me whatsoever. Having said that this forum is not here purely for my benefit, and some people find it therapeutic to vent there after a bad beat, so it does have a valid function IMO.

Yeah, I think it should stay open. It gives people a chance to let off steam - and if you read of others' misfortune it makes yours seem not so bad. It can be useful.

I don't give a ****. But if that weren't an option I would vote to leave it open as I feel that keeps bad beat whining off the rest of the site.

Read them and you'll see, the majority aren't bad beats at all and most are bad play. Personally I don't bother reading or posting them as if I did the forum would be overloaded. I do not however think it should be closed, as whiners would just post them in other threads and if they do now they should be deleted and the poster warned.

Agree with this assessment 100%. Although I have posted my worst bad beat in this section, it was from a live game and not an on-line game, where I have received many bad beats. Players must recognize the difference between a bad beat (which should be forgotten) and poor play (where a player may need the hand to be analyzed).
ie. read Bob's signature "Don't Get Bitter - Get Better".

A mistake made in the past is not as important as the lesson learned from it.

    Amen!

Besides if all Gypsy and Tea haters like myself had their way, this thread would not even exist.
    Really?

Default bad beat section is better than just everywhere

    hi all

I can definately understand GT's dislike of the bad beat moaning - as indeed a very high percentage of bad beats are down to bad play or a blinkered view of the hand

however as others have pointed out - if we didnt have a specific bad beats section then they would be posted anywhere and everywhere ...

which would be alot worse for those that dont like bad beat posts
and also worse for those that do like to read them

at least with a specific section it can be avoided OR easily found as your preference

I dont think any forum can ignore bad beat moaning as its something of a mainstay of learning to play poker

and for as many who dont like bad beat moaning - there are probably as many who will find the discussion of them helpful

thats my take on it anyway

    cheers scrawnybob
