    Default Bad Beat?

So I am playing in PokerStars tournament. Doing well in first place with about 300 people to go. I am dealt Pocket 5s. A player moves all in ahead of me, sloppy player just recklessly moving all in throughout my time at the table. I call as it is for about 20% of my stack. Everyone else folds around to someone in the blinds. Idiot re-raises himself all in and I think for a minute then decide to call as it seems I am partly pot committed, but at the same time am getting 4 to 1 on my money.

The idiot who pushed re-raised all in with K-Q off. The first guy had AK suited(very reasonable push). Flop comes out Q Q 2. Turn and River blanks and the guy who re-raised starts laughing. I knew you guys had nothing, I knew I was better than both of you. HAHAHA. He does not understand that I was actually the favorite pre-flop and yet glorifies his win. Needless to say the idiot takes me out two hands later when he cracks my QQ with K-8 off.

    Horrid playing sometimes from people.

Yes I do have to agree with you ere to a certain degree, but when you had called the all in with a 5-5 to the first guy which in fairness you had him very covered and he seemed to be a loose player who was getting somewhat desperate with a good hand to push with, however when you are re-raised at that point I would still be worried about what tis other guy had and you only have 5-5 with lots of overcards ahead of you and alot of chips at stake now, I think at this point even committed to one all I would have folded and let them play it out as like I said before for a re-raise there there is a very very good chance that he would have a top PP considering the risk he is taking.

Obviously it turned out that he had a recless hand and he never should of won, but the point here is still how far do you really go with a bottom PP with two players playing with a lot of chips at stake.

I dont think it is right whatsoever for him to then sit there and gloat about it as he was really only showing himself up as everyone would have known he was behind, but what he really was doing was playing you and trying to get you annoyed so that you play loose against him next time and eventually he has all your chips, with 300players still remaining I would still be playing very tight at this point and would consider playing a 5-5 like that until the very later stages or I was very short stacked and looking to make a push.

However unlucky and wish you all the best with your next tournement.

this is why you will see a lot of pros fold small pairs ... they wait for a chance when they are a bigger favorite.

and while you may have technically been the favorite, you are a dog to the other two players combined. that's something most people don't think about or realize.

Very good points from both thanks for the input. In reality I truly felt I had the first guy which I did and should have pushed my stack in instead of just flat calling. Probably would have made the other guy realize he definitely is not good and fold and I would have taken it down. Live and learn for next time.

I am trying to see what can be done with 90 person $3 sit and gos on full tilt right now.

    Tough beat!

Based on your first post here were my initial thoughts.

300 people and good chip stack with pocket 5s.

Loose crazy player pushes. I would most likely give him credit for 2 overs. That makes you a small favorite if you can get heads-up.

There are more people to act behind you.

If you call, I put you on PP in mid-range or so, and very well play J 10 or something figuring I am getting good odds to see the flop. So anyone behind you with low chips or decent stack may try a call which would be bad.

If you push, I put you on a strong hand JJs or better PP or maybe AK or AQ suited. If I give crazy player credit for anything, I am most likely a big dog and your push makes me fold UNLESS I am a gambler and have suited connectors.

I am assuming this a 9 (maybe 10) person table (instead of a 6-max), and therefore, with people to play behind me, I probably lay down the 5s and try to get my chips in better since there are still 300 people left. I do this because getting a player behind me in, I am not a favorite to win the hand (even if I am ahead of both) in most cases, and I am not willing to push all-in at this stage with such a low PP.

The "safe" play is a fold.

The "aggressive" play is push, try to get heads-up, and hope no one behind you calls.

The "other" play is call, and try to set mine and hope no one raises.

Once the other guy raised, I would be ticked I put in 20% of my chips but would have laid it down immediately assuming my best case is they are holding the same hand and there are only 4 outs against me. (not sure on math but i think i would actually be about a 60 40 favorite then). More likely there are 4 overs and I do not want any part of that.

Best of luck in the future.
