Default Bad beat . Can I learn from it

    I'm BB

    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to alnoble [9c 9h]
    artem7: folds
    eetbiltong: folds
    ftanner: folds
    Bodom Alfa: folds
    platanitsis: folds
    BKMON05: raises 300 to 600
    alnoble: calls 300

Got to at least call with a reasonable pair. Would a re raise have been better.

*** FLOP *** [Jc Js Jh]
    BKMON05: bets 300
alnoble: raises 3211 to 3511 and is all-in
    BKMON05: calls 3211

Why all in. I put him on Ax or 2 high cards not a pair or the Jack, 300 felt like a feeler bet. Had he bet more would have considered a call or if he'd checked Iwould haved raised 3/4 x BB raise. I've been playing tight so he should give me credit of at least a pair don't want to give him a chance of getting a bigger pair. Suprised when he calls me with A6 he must have seen my all in as a bluff or he is a donk. Don't want to see an ace on the turn or the river.

    *** TURN *** [Jc Js Jh] [6s]
*** RIVER *** [Jc Js Jh 6s] [Jd]
    *** SHOW DOWN ***
BKMON05: shows [Ac 6h] (four of a kind, Jacks)
alnoble: shows [9c 9h] (four of a kind, Jacks - lower kicker)
    BKMON05 collected 8502 from pot

Rivered didn't see it at first he has the better kicker. That's poker but it still hurts. Don't think I've ever seen four of a kind on the board. Often 3 on board with someone holding the 4th in their hole cards. 20th out of 90 8 off the money. I'll give it a couple of hours before I play again just needed to vent.

Lesson learnt :- All in is not a good move unless you do it to put someone else all in not you or you have the nuts. There is always time to finish higher if you have chips. Once you are out you loose.

Eh. You look at your situation an the only adjustment which may have prevented this would be to re-raise preflop. Since you put him on Ax anyway it may have been a good move. I think post-flop your move was reasonable. Something to think about though: Many/most people will say yeah there was nothing wrong with my move, I got my cards in with the best hand, nothing I can do better than that. WRONG. You can get your chips in with advantage and still be putting yourself at risk unecessarily. I think that may be what happened here and although you were ahead at the time of your push... you could have done it more safely later in the hand when you had seen no A's come out and no quads come out. I'm not saying you're wrong... just something to think about.

You got him to call a 3200 raise on the flop with Ace high. He had 4 outs. He made a terrible call.

Can you learn from it? Yeah, learn that poker isn't fair. That you can play a hand right and still lose. If you're like me and have trouble accepting that, you'll probably need some kind of medication - ulcer, high blood pressure - to get through life if you continue to play.

where should i start on this hand?

    1) don't limp UTG unless you are planning to reraise.
    2) don't call a raise OOP.
    3) don't call off your stack on a draw that might not even be good.

i'd have folded the flop to his all-in most times. not every time, but most times. you still had 15BB.

so, because you caught a good card on the turn, it makes it the right call? don't be so results oriented.

Yes, of course, after this hand I began to play more carefully and try not to take quick decisions. Thanks
