What do sites gain from letting the worse hand win
They get the same rake whoever wins
Its more a case of usually the bigger stack has the correct odds to call a shortstack
Imo the sites fall down by letting players sit down with too small a buy in
If the min was 40BBs then you would probly see more poker played and the bingo players would have to play at levels they could afford rather than try to hit'n'run at a higher level
Why do you speak of yourself in the 3rd person

cash I love all the short stacks
hi
sorry just to add if we are talking about cash games and short stacks ...
personally I love playing against short stacks
I used to to tag them all on fulltilt (I think they've changed the min buyins a bit now to $140 for $2/4 games)
so many players on the $2/4 games used to buy-in for $80 (min) and play a 2 tier game it was generally easy money
I know some hated the short stacks - I'm really gutted they have effectively been shifted into rush or will now be playing 1/2 the tables
with those players alot would play 4 tables with $80 on each trying to double up quickly ... this meant if they pushed they likely had it OR they were trying a blatant move because they had picked up an article on 3 betting or pushing on late position with wide wide range
IMHO its now harder to spot the fish with the new $140 min buy-in ... I used to buy-in for $180-$280 (max buy-in was $400) and this worked as the short short stackers wanted the action and the deep stacks didnt feel so threatened and therefore put me in with the very short stacks
anyhow I know alot of players like a "by the book" sort of game so will be glad the short stacks have gone ;-(

However came up with that theory need to be smacked. When I begin table selection I look for the highest average pot size in the limits I want to play. Love those loose maniac aggressive tables. Now the thing with these tables is most people still at the table are over the max buy-in, good players take money from idiots and maniacs rebuy and bully and steal blinds. So when I sit at a table I am normally the shorter stack. I sit back and wait on my hand to bust someone with and don't seem to have a problem winning. Sure I get drawn out on sometimes, and somedays are worse than others but def. not losing just cause I have less money at the table then everyone else. You made a couple calls with live connecting cards and very close odds of winning. If I had to guess I would say you were running pretty good that day anyways, people tend to play much more coin flip hands when the cards are hitting right for them.
Oh wait I was on 2 tables yesterday and on the phone and won a good bit of money in a very short time. So I guess I need to look into the "2 tables and hitting on a woman on the phone theory". worked for me that day maybe there is something to it.Last edited by spowers454; 02-22-2010 at 01:07 PM.
