Thread: Tough Break

  1. #1

    Default Tough Break

OK -- my wife and I got our tax refund back and my wife gave me the green light to plop some funds in my PS account. Fifty bucks usually goes a long way with me playing micro games, but I decide to play a 7.70 180-player sit-n-go. YES - bad bankroll management, but it's called gambling for a reason.

I told myself to play super tight and I did. 15 hands in, I only played one hand in the blind. Folded A-10, folded 3-3....I was proud of myself. I'm on the button and finally - KK !!! Bet goes around 5 in including blinds and it gets to the guy to my right (a real hotdog raiser) and he goes all-in. I am betting he does not have AA, so I am the lone call. He shows 2-2. I breathe a sigh of relief until the flop comes 2-8-9. Followed by 10 and 4. Thats it. I waited....played tight, and 7.70 is gone. I do NOT regret it, but just wish I had some luck....

That's not called bad luck... that's called variance. You see the whole reason someone would tell you it is bad bank roll managment is because even if you play your best and get it in with the goods you wont always come out on top due to variance... and by the way, we don't consider it gambling. You're just not playin the same game.

So, let me get this right....when the person wins lotteries across the world with one or two tickets and the massive amounts of people playing multiple hundreds of tickets lose, that's "variance" too? Buullshit!!! Luck superscedes talent and variance daily and in every aspect of gambling. I'll give YOU 7.70 to shut the f--k up.

give OP a break. he said he was 'taking a shot' and its something everyone has done. he did it for 15 percent of his roll. nothing horrible there.

what's amazing is, that no matter how high the stakes are, you still find some donkey who throws it all-in preflop with 22. hell, it's a pair, it has to be the nuts.

now, OP, you played scared poker and that's not good. you took the shot, you should have played your normal game. unless there were massive raises and reraises, you were probably wrong to fold A10 and 33.

Default inconsiderate post has been deleted

    hi

just to let you know the pointlessly negative post has been removed

I do not encourage pointlessly negative posts in the forum - there seems to have been rather too much of that lately - its negative, unproductive and not welcoming

I dont know (or care) how other forums are run or what their members / mods or whoever have as rules but there is zero need to just post negatively in threads like this that in effect arent doing anyone any harm

the removed post attitude was frankly uncalled for in this thread - and its things like this that put off members from posting

post how you like (or they like more to the point) on other forums - but I wont have unnecessary negativity in this forum

please use report thread / post if you feel a post or thread needs moving etc

if you dont like endless bad beat posts ... then simply avoid the bad beat section ;-)

    cheers scrawnybob

You can't compare lotteries to poker. Stix is right, the reason for BRM is variance. In the long term skill should outperform luck, and by long-term I don't mean 1 game or 1 week or even 1 month.

And 22 can be the NUTZ!!!

My statement is that's a natural fact.

NOBODY HAVE THE SAME BEHAVIOUR/RELATIONSHIP WITH $$

That's why BRM is IMO important as it takes pressure off.

I wonder why donkeys would only be allowed to play micros?
