Thread: A few instances where my jaw actually dropped

Default A few instances where my jaw actually dropped

Ok so I play on pokerstars and have been experiencing some rather strange things happening lately, mostly late in tournies.

I have 10 10 cant't remmeber suits stack of 90k blinds 2/4k. I open the raising in highjack to 12k next player calls, sb folds bb raises all in to 20k. I reraise to 45k and dealer calls.

flop comes 457 i check dealer checks. turn is 2 check check. river is a 10... i hit my set and move all in. dealer calls and shows 63 off.... guy had 96k pre flop and im busted.

I have kjd and only 20 players left i have stack of 350k i raise pre flop to 30k blinds are 5/10k and im in late position with no raise behind and I have one caller. flop comes 89j and other guy checks, i move all in and after a long time guy calls to show 77. turn is k river 10 i bust out.

I have aces after about an hour into tourney and 6k stack with blinds 1/200. first to act goes all in and i call he shows 84 clubs. flop... you guessed it 884...

also had this happen with 10 5 off to me and yet again in another tounrey i have aces in late position, early position moves all in and shows 67d surprise suprise he hits a full on the turn with 673 on the flop...

I'm not a bitcher but I just cannot find an excuse for these plays no matter how much i think and no matter how I think of it. these people did not have me covered by more than 3k at any point and usually are 2-3 hours into the tourney... makes you wonder.

In the last week I've lost over half the times I've been 80% or more to win the hand even losing to runner runner 2% chances roughly 10 times. Had trips overtripped 8 times in two days, been constantly punished by turns and rivers where people are virtually drawing dead.

I wouldn't mind but no matter how hard I try I just cannot think of a reason why anybody would call some of these cards especially hours into a tourney and nowhere near deep stacked at times and with me making sure i put enough money in pots to keep the muck out.

But PEtey your a good sport, like yesterdays game you said Id rather get beat like that than a suckout. You dont know how many people called me lucky yesterday and then these same people would catch me on the river and think they made the greatest call in world. One hand realy irratates me and I dont remember but someone caught a T on the river and beat me for some chips and no THAT WAS LUCKY there was Id call that and blah blah blah, so every hand I win Im just lucky and everyone else is skillful. SUCK A JOKE.

I saw one of these big shots play a 4-8 against someonne BET HARD FLOP was nothing and bet hard and hit a 4 of the turn and 8 on the river (BOTH OF THESE FELL together) as it was all in on the flop) I guess that was skill and the otehr dude had KK so KK lost to 48 by an accomplished player. SO either he were LUCKY (GOD FORBID) or he knew what was gonna fall (which if you looked at the hand, looked more like that)

I reraise to 45k and dealer calls.< Question.. why are we re-raising here to 45k???? This is CLEARLY a spot to SHOVE!!! You're only leaving yourself aound a 1/4 pot sized bet for the flop?? You MUST SHOVE here once raised..... ALWAYS!! You're only ~22bb's deep.... get it in preflop.. every single time in this spot!!!!

flop comes 457 i check dealer checks.< Why are we 'checking' here? We only have like 33k left and pot now should be ~ what..126k.. We're NEVER FOLDING HERE EVER.... if you didn't get the money in preflop... GET IT IN NOW!!! "CHecking" here is terrible!! .,... turn is 2 check check. river is a 10... i hit my set and move all in. dealer calls and shows 63 off.... guy had 96k pre flop and im busted.

Why such a HUGE overbet??

I have aces after about an hour into tourney and 6k stack with blinds 1/200. first to act goes all in and i call he shows 84 clubs. flop... you guessed it 884...< what game is this? I want to play it. I would think this is one where I would never want to be complaining... I mean if you've got idiots who'll get it in pre w chit like that?!?! AWESOME!!!

Maybe put some HH's (hand histories) up... so we can check it out.

For sure this ^ stuff is super aggravating - you go deep in a MTT, you're in decent shape.... you get a chance to get it in vs. Joe Donkey Dink (having him 'noted' for how bad he plays) looking for an oppurtunity to get it in vs. him.... the oppurtunity comes & he tards out on ya & takes it down by some f'n miracle.

Sometimes this happens very often in MTT play.... sometimes it's over & over & over again. It's the nature of MTT play.

Just keep grinding away. You're getting it in good... that's the main thing.

I havent actually got the hand histories... welll I have but ti would mean searching through quite a lot of them to find these examples. Seems also A2 is the most common one to beat my As hitting straight and trip 2s all the time. Even had it the other day I have AA flop is 22A turn 2 river 9 guy had A2 arghhh!

Anytime you are surprised at an outcome or seen jaw dropping hands played out generally means you haven't played enough poker. If it can happen, it will happen.

I'm also not a fan of "You're getting it in good", the end is all that matters. Variance suxs that way.

I have played plenty of poker the reason my jaw dropped is the why the hell did they go all in with a good stack and 40+ bb in their stack with hands like 84!
As for getting it in good.... when you're 80% to win hands you expect to win 80% of the time not nearer the 10% that I was getting

I too am bloody sick of donkeys turn/rivering with stuff they should never call with in the first place.........This is why I only play forum games where usually the players have something approaching a brain.
