Thread: Just Getting Tired of it all

Default Just Getting Tired of it all

I have been playing online for years and over the past 6-12 months, the play has been brutal. I mean you could stand over my shoulder and laugh in hysterics watching the crap that beats me routinely. I am a small-time player. I deposit 20 bucks when we have the extra cash....not 200. So, my play needs to be tight and it is. Still doesn't matter. AA loses routinely for me like any other hand. I rarely catch flushes or straights. I play aggressively to change the "tone" and that backfires. I play super-conservatively and 2-7 beats me. I am to the point that as much as I love playing poker, I do not win nearly enough to justify the heartache and financial loss. Twenty bucks here and there is not bad, but I could use it for something else. I have read where MANY folks consider online gaming "rigged" and I laughed....now, I wonder about it. Is there a conspiracy for me to lose? No. However, do the bigtime depositors get relief over small-time depositors like me? I don't know, but I do consider the possibilities.

The one major downfall of playing tight is that when you go on a downswing it becomes amplified, usually it is because your playing big hands going for big pots. What it feels like is that your playing so few hands (tight) when your monster hand should hold up and doesn't your feeling like the world is against you. Really it is variance.

People want to look to blame something, be it a conspiracy against your from the site or people colluding in hands to set you up. Thing is, its math. I'd be more worried about playing on a site that doesn't have a suck out or AA gets river'd king vs KK, if it can happen it will happen.

I had a streak in 5 consecutive tournaments (from $20-$50) where I ran up against AA, twice on the bubble and 3 others deep into the tournament. The only thing that can keep you going is be the people looking over your shoulder and laugh. Crying about it, getting mad or taking it out on someone else will not bring your buy-in back.

It can sometimes be difficult to make a profit at the lower buy-ins, updated notes, stat trackers and going over hand histories constantly is the only way to move up the ladder and break free from the break even player. Maybe you have a tell you didn't even know about.

If your a small stakes player, your probably playing because you enjoy the game but losing is never fun. You know what is fun, laying down some bad beats. Hit the play money and freerolls for a bit, take a break from the cash buy-ins.

If you wanna ride the horse and the horse kicks you off, the only way to ride the horse is to get back on.

The bet all in on the turn you made is actually a semi bluff.

Bluff....semi-bluff....no bluff.....whatever the case, I *HAD* the best hand after the turn. I bet on the BEST hand. A-K was not going to back off...did not want him to back off.

NOt saying you, but lately I have been having to hit the books and help stuff from sites like this about good play as I have been just not been making good calls lately and maybe my play is getting to cute and I give way too much time for people to catch up on hands they shouldnt

    For example last night

AXs (spades) I get in cheap on the flop and flop pays off three spades ??4s so Im nutted good I think, I just gotta keep some folks to bet so I check and one person bets 200 and folds everyone but me so I call. Turn 6 - I stupidily check again and the other person checks River = 4 I stupidly check again and I think Im gold and begging this person to bet so they do bet ALL in for 2.9K and call and bam they flip over 66.

I come back and look at the how to play hold em tips from this site and BAM this example is one of the hands described. SO I just gotta get back to quit playing so cute and either fold people and take what I can and try to win more hands but I have been killing myself with these slow plays lately. I want the action until they turn over and Im beat.

If I would of pushed real hard after the 200 raise then i doubt they would of called with a 66 only seeing 3 spades on the flop (maybe they would of who knows I just gotta get back to good play).

Well Im just thinking out loud

When you see your bigger pocket pair beat by a lower pocket pair hurts but it happen frecuently (and those are 80/20īs). This AJ hand in the turn vs the AK is 78/22, so will happen more times than you think. (if a 10 or Q come you are also beat, not only the K).

    Patience.

I don't know what the hell is going on but its either God, Karma or i am just an asshole that deserves it but i am so close to giving up on everything, and before any forum sheriffs or smart mouths come here and tell me to stop crying or bellyaching, i wasn't i was just agreeing with the OP, that i am so tired of it all

Well it just happened to me in the Daily Dollar as i was reading this post, last hand before break, i was in the BB wit Q6 of hearts, and the flop came 4 8 10 all hearts, i check the 1 person in the hand bets i call, then another 4 hits the turn he bets almost 4k i reraise all in for around 24k he calls and shows he slowplayed Ac As, so i think i got this then BAM the Ace of hearts hits the river and im out lol.
