Thread: He had a real bad beat ! :D

Talking He had a real bad beat ! :D

Just for fun i started a 20$-Heads Up-Sit&Go and my first hand was A9o.
Opponent raises by 10BB. I call.

Flop shows: A99. What does opponent? Goes All-In (he had 55-Pocket).
I just type into the chatwindow "Thanks" and have called it.

I know, it wasn't a bad beat of him - he was just dumb, but it was fun winning this Heads-Up with just one hand.

Default bad play by him I'd say

    hi

I'd say it was a double bad play by him - raising 10xBB preflop even heads up with pocket fives is a bit foolhardy

If they were going to be playable after the flop -
then he shouldnt have bet so much on the flop

If they were going to be dead on the flop -
then he shouldn't have bet so much on the flop

He should have also figured both before and importantly after the flop

"If this guy (you) calls my 10xBB preflop he has a hand - probably better than 55
ie. ace any card, high cards or better pair

If he was just trying to steal the blinds with 55 it's a waste of a hand - if he had enough chips to bet 10xBB then the blinds weren't killing him

personally with mid / low pairs heads up I try to set a trap - not waste them or get killed by them - so if I hit trips or their higher connectors etc dont hit the flop then I'm good to pick up the hand

If I was him I'd have made a moderate raise - the sort that if you have half decent cards you'd call and if a good high pair you'd be keen to re-raise

That way he'd have much better idea what you had ... And also able to take it down on the flop -

POST FLOP play IMHO is very powerful if done right - all-in's and big raises preflop should be used in a big field to tighten your odds when you have troublesome big hands

Bottom line is he ignored the signals - you calling the 10xBB should have alerted him to solid pair or an ace of solid high cards

When you fired at an ace and a paired flop - he should have run a mile - he was a muppet and a nice win for you

    Good Luck at the Tables

    cheers Scrawnybob

    Angry just another bad beat

i have a hundred bad beats stories, i kinda expect them now

    heres one from earlier today:

Im at heads up from a sit and go, really battled to get there with some hard play (no cards), i keep chippin away til i have 70-80% of the chips and then start hittin cards: my AA gets beaten by a str8, fight back to 80%, trip Js get beaten by flush (4 hearts matchin to his As2h), fight back to 80%, 10 10 gets out tripped by 44, -beginning to think he is blessed, fight back to see AJ pair against J2 with a J on the flop - pairs a 2 on river, fight back to just under half chips to finally see my K2 hit 2K2 on the flop - he goes all-in - yes i got him at last - he turns over 55 -yes, what are the next 2 cards........ 5......5.

Default swings in online poker - everywhere

    hi devious

welcome to the forum - hope to see you in the poker.com games on sudays ;-)

everyone who has over 5+ decent posts (your sound on that one) gets the passwords around 24hrs before each tournie via PM

on the swings front I definately agree and I am trying to conquer the downswings - today

so far it poker.com I've had a good run and I like the software alot - the games are a bit thin but the games are definately weak - ok you have to watch for some of the good players
    but generally they are fish

make good notes is a definate advantage on a small site

so far I've pushed $300 up to $1800 in less than a week (I'd not been playing poker.com in other than the micro til now) over not many hours at all

today is a different story and I think I'll probably come out today down $300 but I'm not playing peak times so the swings will be a bit more I think

definately stick with it - Poker.com got good profit potential

Poker.com Review use BONUS CODE: 4KP300 for 100% up to $300 bonus
