I'm not gonna lie I threw my glass against the wall when this happened. I'd spent 3.5hours working up from $12 that I'd got down to up $80 only for this to happen. What makes it worse is the guy that won the hand had been playing garbage hands fopr about an hour. Calling a raise with 55 out out of position (IMHO) is a bad move but he gets paid off for it, and that other guy with 44, wtf???

Default tough hand

hi dazzler

I'm not sure you can call it a bad beat - but definately a tough hand

I know you said - "the guy who won called raise out of position" ok but they didnt raise in early position - they called your raise - the guy with 44 and the one with 55 called your 2x BB raise

The thing with AA is you are only the sure favourite preflop - after that it could be very different

with 3 callers of your 2x BB I'd be worried that one of them will hit their hand and unless I hit an ace I am wary of any cards - high / low 2 suited / connected -

personally if I see a player raise 2x 3x even possibly 4x the BB preflop I am putting him on AA, KK, QQ maybe AK

if I've got any pocket pair and others call that raise effectively infront of me I WILL consider playing any pocket pair because if it hits and I make trips I will hope to break them - on the flop allin or big raise / re-raise.

The problem with the way the hand played was that Mcfiddish whatever he was called your raise - this IMHO made calling a viable option for the 44 as his pot odds improved after that extra dead money went in

then the guy with 55 is looking at more money in the pot making the original raise look a whole lot less scary - again his pot odds improved

small pocket pairs are speculative - but also have massive potential and the implied odds in NL are a big factor - both players could be putting you on AA,KK, QQ or even more likely AK -

55 or 44 is in good shape against AK but obviously not the others - and if they decided thats what you have then they are going to call the raise especially with the extra dead bet in there

•*flop

2 4 5 rainbow

VBISK: checks
IKA258: bets $3
Dazzler69: raises $7 to $10
McFiddish: folds
VBISK: calls $10
IKA258: raises $62.80 to $72.80 and is all-in
Dazzler69: raises $5.25 to $78.05 and is all-in
VBISK: calls $61.95 and is all-in

now if you make trips - you make trips and so both 44 and 55 are going to think - I'm going to take whoever out of these other 3 players that has any high pocket pair to the cleaners

this is why with NL the implied odds in preflop & frop play over rule the straight pot odds and all the postional stuff - Its hard to lay down AA KK QQ etc if you only see a ragged low flop

but a player with a hand like 88 down to 22 knows that if he hits an 8-2 on the flop it is unlikely to
put off a player with a high / over pocket pair - especially AA etc

Stats wise it definately wasnt a bad beat - they went all-in when they had the best of it

if you'd all gone all-in preflop then iot would have been a badbeat as you were ahead

infact if you had won the hand after them all going all-in it would have been them getting the bad beat

Sorry Dazzler its a really tough hand and always those losses to small PP's feel worse than anything else but IMHO you have to laydown AA sometimes

on the flop the first guys bets out (that could mean anything like the over pair you have) but I'd really would be worried he has hit trips

I think you can rule out A3 as unlikely

you raise a sensible amount (this is a good play IMHO) for the situation your in

the next guy raised all-in - This is where I would have almost certainly have folded - infact definately folded

clearly one of them has hit trips - even if its trip 2's (yes its nasty) but when they make it an allin decision you have no more unanswered questions - like can I see another card for cheap

Its hard to do but - the AA has gone bad

Play AA hard preflop and post flop be prepared to lay it down if you havent got control of the hand

sorry yet another random ramble

cheers scrawnybob
