Thread: Who said one out is not enough?

Default Who said one out is not enough?

Tourney of 85 people, 12 left, first 10 get the money.

Blinds are 100/200 and my stack is about 3000, which is a bit below average.

I'm UTG+2 with 10 10 and raise to 800, an MP guy (stack about 9000) calls and button pushes his last 1250 chips all-in. Call, call.

(just for information, the first caller has been in my table from beginning of the tournament and made some totally idiotic moves. The sole reason he has survived in the tournament is 5 all-in situations where he was behind but managed to win anyway)

    Flop 10 7 4 rainbow.

    I check, MP goes all-in, I instacall.

He turns around 77 for a second-best set against my nuts.

    Turn X, river 7.

    Nice hand, sir!

that sucks. but most people would have done the same as he did, 2nd set with position. just unlucky that the idiot had a hand this time

Of course he did the right thing - you can't ever fold a mid set in this situation. So yeah, we both made a correct play, no question in that. However, what pissed me off was that it was such a bad player won the (very important) hand - I would've been very happy if any of the other players would've won it

One outers are certainly bad, but even worse - the grandaddy of beats, so to speak - is when the opponent needs two specific cards on the turn and river, and the chips go in before that. Say you had gone all in pre-flop, and been called with the 77, then the flop came with a blank in place of the 7. Play long enough, and you'll see it; even happened on a WPT final table once.

Yeah .. I've seen it, experienced it, don't want to talk about it, and certainly don't want to experience it again! (its just that I love my new keyboard too much to break it)

I had two one-outers hit on me this past weekend. One was bad enough; two is ridiculous. On top of that in Stud8b tourneys, I twice had 16 outs with 3 cards to come...and missed it both times. Sucks.
