Default a UB special

well for once i'm going to tell of a "bad beat" that worked in my favour :

i'm on a 6 player ring game at ultimatebet. i get dealt A Q off suit, i have early position and raise 3 times the blind. the only caller is the winner of the last hand (with a heart flush) and the flop comes A Q 5 all hearts. i make a small probing bet and my oppenent then makes a small re-raise which i call. the turn comes a 6D .....
now i'm thinking that probably my oppenent (a fairly loose player) has an ACE and maybe a flush draw, the only thing i'm really worried about is a possible set. so i bet a little more aggressively and my oppenent goes all in which doubles the pot. my pot odds are around 50/50 but i feel i'm ahead and so call. how wrong can you be, she had hit another heart flush on the flop and i was behind. my oppenent had played the hand perfectly but luckily for me a Q comes on the river and i make a full house.

and here's the coda :

the same player immediately rebuys and the very next hand goes all in with an A K off suit after hitting the K on the turn only to meet someone with 2 Aces !

makes you wonder ........welcome to online poker !

Default nice catch

hi Harry

nice catch - It always makes me laugh when players complain about a bad beat like this - I can hear them harping in the chatbox while they re-buy and get tilty

At the end of the day you played it perfectly - knew exactly what you were up against and got unlucky then lucky - think you played good solid poker AFAICS

cheers scrawnybob

Default bad beat

I had a bad beat at Ub a little while back on the $30- $60 regular texas holdem tables. Well over a $1000 pot- heads up on the river my 4 Aces lost to a straight flush. Any one who plays at UB knows they don't have a bad beat jackpot. I was under 1 of my old aliases- Bat763

Some people at UB also know me as Jrtab20, Sativa, Halibut67, and Bat763. Have a nice day and good luck at the tables today all.

its hard to get away from top two pair short handed, even with a flush on board.
