AA, the bain of y poker life
Hi all,
Having pocket A's or, basically, any premium pOcket pair is a try to get someone all-in preflop. Do not allow people to see cards as this will give people a chance to work out their pot odds and thus that premium hand you think you have is nout but rags. Even AA, KK etc. Sometimes you can go as for as the flop, but if you see flush or straight possabilities and someone is betting like they have a shot at it, either fold (especially if there is the probability of a higher pair out there) or re-raise over the top... make it very expensive for them to hit there straight/flush.
Only slow play a premium pocket pair if there is rags on the board or you could hit a nut flush/straight.
Hope this helps.
Dom
By the way, Suited connectors just rock. Bet with these bad boys rather than you're pocket rockets everytime. Although, a pocket pair could end up being the full house beast, but if you don't hit the set on the flop... just limp along, if you can.Last edited by DomEast; 05-23-2006 at 06:02 PM.

suited connectors just rock
hi have to agree suited connectors do rock - mostly
but then so do pocket pairs and even unsuited high cards (tut I hear you say)
and even not being dealt two cards - so long as they think you have been dealt AA or whatever you need to scare the hell out of them
think what I'm trying to say is that you can play any hand badly or well - this is the skill over the cards - sometimes that means
knowing when you can bluff the hell out of someone with high pocket pairs
going for the flush / straight draw
going all-in with a marginal over pair etc etc
It all depends on how you are percieved at the table / previous plays etc
you must think like a jedi - yes like a jedi poker player
if you play like your telling them -
"these aren't the cards you want to play"
"feel the fact that this guy has you beat"
then they will lay them down when you want them to - or keep playing the junk
all poker hands have potential - its just knowing when to exploit them and when to quite while you behind (more than they are)
