AA still wins most times heads up, your just knocking the other times out of the way

dont worry, in the long run your aces will pay

People put far too much faith in pocket Aces. While you gonna be a big favourite to win the pot before the flop, those 3 cards change everything. For example if you limp with Aces pre-flop then you are leaving yourelf open to get beaten by a lesser hand.

Unless you are lucky enough to have another player with a big hand pocket aces rarely win big pots, but they will lose you big pots because people get married to their hand when proper analysis of the hand will usually show that you are beat.

I remember reading somewhere that bankrolls are not built with the money won with big hole cards, but the money not lost when you have big hole cards.

While it is extremely frustrating to have your aces cracked, the biggest thing that needs to be learnt is that they are not a certaintity. Look back over the hand histories of the hands you mentioned in which you lost with Aces and look to see what you could have done differently. For example did you raise pre-flop in that hand with Aces, if so how much? what position? The other thing I like to do when looking over my hands is put yourself in the other players place, with their cards and stack and think how you behave would look to them. For example was your betting pattern etc enough to convince him to pass his 8s. The other thing with the hand you mentioned is tat it was a freeroll and people play differently in freerolls.

You just remember all the times AA loses since you are expecting it to win. It's all psychological

I know I really hate aces so I allways go all in pre-flop with them thats the easiest way to get them payed off

Default AA 80% fav against one player preflop

hi

All I'll say is AA is an 86% - 80% favourite preflop (against 72off / KK)

thats against one player

once the flop comes down its a very different story

or against more than one player (preflop even) it's not near the 80%-86% favourite

so IMHO strategy is to

1) get it down to one player preflop - period

and

2) be happy to get all your money in preflop against one player as a big favourite even against KK

look at it like this - If someone in the pub said to you "I have a ten sided dice - and you win with numbers 1-8 but I win with number 9 or 10" - you would take that damn bet for as much as they offer everytime (assuming it was not a loaded dice)

3) if you dont get it down to one player preflop then any cards that come down that are not aces may well have helped the other player

IMHO 90% of problems with aces are down to how they are played - the other 10% is bad beats

cheers scrawnybob
