You have to weed out most of the donkeys in order to advance. That being said you should be playing premium hands in the early stages..........

depends on the freerolls you're playing. if you're playing a freeroll with a field of 2700 people like the fulltilt freerolls every few hours, it's going to take good cards, good play, and plenty of luck to place in the money (top 27).

and it'll take about 5 hours.

that's why a pro hasn't won the world series of poker in the past 5 years. doesn't matter how good you are, going up against thousands of players you are inevitably going to have to suck at least once, will end up all-in on a coin-flip several times, etc. etc. Odds just aren't in any one person's favor.

for freerolls i prefer private ones for sure, because the fields are manageable, the donkeys are *often a little* fewer and farther between, and the payouts tend to be much better to boot.

I'm not a big fan of this freeroll, I hope you all don't play this

i totally agree with the luck factor on a big tourney, u can play as good as hell but u will have to face some coin flips, and some donks trying to outdraw u when they dont have the odds to do it.

It took me a while to understand that, because i was really frustrated when that happened, but thats the way it is. And sometimes u are going to be on the other side.

There are 2 things you need in Poker:

Luck and Skill.

In big tournaments (2700) you need alot of luck to survive........

I strongly dislike Jamie Gold. He makes some really boneheaded plays. His antics piss me off when he's on high stakes poker.........

If you're from US, I don't blame you to dislike Gold but for me I just see Gold as player who has his own style

He bluffs way too much. I'd love to get him in a cash game and take some of his money though......
