Default bots

hi

well as I understand it using a bot breaks all the poker sites rules

so I wouldnt suggest using whatever it is you have - if it does it on it own and you can leave it to play and make a cup of tea then it will be considered illegal on all rooms

If it is just an odds calculator or similar - ie. you use it as a guide and can programme in your preferences but still need to sit there deciding if to take its advice - then this is perfectly ok

hope thats a help - wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble without knowing what they're getting into

at the end of the day it everyones personal decision what they do - but just so you know the way the sites would see it

cheers scrawnybob

Default Bot abuse or not.

Hello All,

What I was trying to bring into light was not to abuse the poker sites rules, but to see who's system of play is better without the human factor.

If, say, 200 people enter a tourney all with bots programmed to there preference of play then the overall winner would in theory have the best system. This also removes the trait of human error.

I would never use a bot (certainly not PAY for one) in a cash game as where would the fun be? I just wanted to see where this experiment would lead. For instance I have never read a poker book.... and probably never will. I taught myself through trial and error and play my own system at the tables. I do make mistakes though. The bot, if programmed properly, wouldn't. That is why, with willing participants, I would like to have a play money tourney to test the system out. Not to win money but put theory into practice.

I am not sure if any poker sites would allow this as they would have to be informed of the experiment in the first place.

On the subject of books, I've always thought if you teach yourself from a poker novelist wouldn't you end up just emulating the writer rather than developing you're own style? Look at Gus Hansen. I am pretty sure he hasn't read a poker book as he has made some mad plays, but look at how many chips he usually has! I would love/hate to play him.

If you see me at a table, it will be me. Not metal mickey! Unless I have fallen asleep, which sometimes happens in early morning tourneys.

Take care people,

Dom.

I played in a tourney this morning and 1 player at my table HAD to be a bot. This player (bot?) was dragging in 8 out of 10 pots.......CONSISTANTLY!! And winning with junk pocket cards. I wonder if some sites use bots (or something similar) to fill seats in tourneys. I can't prove any of this, it's just what I saw. I dunno.

No one with a good bot would ever do this cause it would expose them and the sites would prob black ball them.

I have used an odds calculator, Texas Calculatem, but then stopped cause I didn't find it anymore useful than what I already knew. Plus it didn't factor in pot odds.

I use Poker Indicator for calculating odds - love it when it tells me "You've got the nuts!"...........especially when I have already folded.

Back on topic..........occaisionally I see suspicious play, but that coud be my inexperience in knowing what is going on, or the other player actually plays almost like a bot. Apart from that I try to stay on sites that I think I can trust, can't do to much more than that......well I could stop playing (but that won't happen anytime soon!!)

Default bots? robot players, maybe

I don't think a BOT is playing at all, I can't get a calculator to work at TITAN, the only 'BOT' I know is a guy from Germany who plays all day on 4 $0.05/$0.10 tables picking up premium hands. Always keeps $10+ until he starts winning, yesterday he must have got very bored, but no doubt richer.

If you want to see some bots in action just go sit on the play tables at Banner Poker. I used to play at Banner and did quite well (successful cashouts) before they changed owners and changed all their rules. If I am bored and broke, then I'll go to the play tables and test my skill against the MANY bots that are playing there. Let me stress to everyone, never never play in the cash games on this site.
