Lesson Learnt
I had just reached the final table at an Australian Poker League Satellite and and I am sitting in about 5th position in the chip count. Top three places qualify for the Final with a shot at winning a seat in our Tournament of Champions Tournament.
I am dealt Q J and the flop comes Q 6 4. Everyone folds around to me on the small blind. I am up against the chip leader and I decide to shove all in believing I have the best hand and thinking the chip leader will fold.
Instead I get a call and the chip leader turns of K K and needless to say I finish the tournament in 9th.
I guess I should have just raised to get a feel for the situation. What would you have done.

ehh.... poker is a cruel game sometimes. the overpairs are such a mistery when you think you have the top pair with a nice kicker. i also give the credit for that chipleader for not "showing" his strenght in the firstplace and by that managed to donk you off the tournament.
i think that when it comes to 3 winning places, in a tournament which was played till this point and there is the chipleader and the short stacks - then i'ts not just a sit and go where i'm more than sure you'd "know" about his big pair pre flop. the fact that he was the chipleader allowed him to disguise his hand.
i am not sure how i woulda play this- but i tell you what: next time when you get to this stage (and i'm sure you will), dont just throw away everything you fought for previously. always leave yourself outs and be sharp at the final stages.
hope i helped here. good luck next time

That was a good play by the other guy concealing his hand like that. Not much you can do there, unless you had more info on him and knew he was playing like that. I guess maybe next time dont shove in that situation and maybe bet the pot or check..........even then those arent that great of options............

I wouldn't push All-In against the chipleader with top pair marginal kicker in this spot. A 2/3 potsize bet might have been the best solution.
How many chips in relation to the big blind did you had in this hand?

You really need to be cautious at the last table,KK was a sneakt hand tho,you were bound to lose some, instead of all yr chips!.sit back and let others fight if you can.

Pocket pairs are lethal. It's hard to get a read out of them.

I probably would try and come over the top like you did. Just would have gone 2x pot or so and if he came back over the top I would have figured he had something better than me. At least that is what I am going to say while I sit here and think about it. Heat of the moment...I have no idea what I would have done.
I always like to make sure it costs ppl too much to see that "next" card. Just in case they are sitting on a draw. Hope that helps.
