When is a bad beat ... not a bad beat?
Years ago I was playing at ... hell if I know which one it was ... one of the few casino's that actually had a poker room here in town.
They had a nice bad beat jackpot going ... playing what was the most common game in town five years ago, 1/5 Stud.
As the hand was going along ... everyone gets knocked out but two ... and we all got very very interested, as this looked like some nice $$$ for all of us.
Each player left had 4 cards to a straight flush on the board - and they were both betting like they had it.
First to show is laughing ... she says something like hell ... I caught a sixth card to it on the river, the 9 ... to go 9 high.
The other player just looks at her ... looks at the dealer ... looks at her ... looks at all of us... shakes his head ... stands up...
.. and flips his cards over and walks over the wall - and sort of beats his head against the wall a couple times ...
He had a 9 high straight flush ..... no beat ... no bad beat ... no bad beat jackpot.
Nobody said a word - the dealer just dealt the next hand ... luckly was a table where everybody understood what just happened (and how much money it just cost the dealer, let alone us)
