venue championship and how i busted on the bubble
ok ive been playing at this bar for just over two weeks. ive made 9 final tables and won 2 of them. every win gives you some petty cash and a seat to the end of the month tourney with a prize pool of a grand.
blinds go up every thirty and when it gets to 500 and a 1000 it becomes an all in fest. i make pretty good lay downs with my short stack double through on blinds alone 2 times at my last table. guy to my right has the whole table stacked and i knew i was going to double up through him. he keeps raising my blinds every single time im in them. after a 15 minute time lapse in the 500-1000 blinds go up. 1000-2000. sick. 15 minute level. i look down at q8 of dimes in the sb and decide if he calls ill just limp if he bets ill go all in because he is weak. he bets 6 grand ive got 8 and im all in. he says something to the effect of "that was a pretty bad time for me to do that." so at that point i know im ahead, sure enough he has to call and flips over 9s 5d. so he has six outs. flop hits me square in the face ace jack seven two dimes. he loses an out and im still not feeling like im in good shape because i never win all in's for my money. turn jack of spades. allright im feeling preeeettty confident that this wont be the 1 time out of ten a nine or a five hits the river. he then proceeds to put the nine of clubs down on the river. yay im out and pissed off that i dont get a chance at the final table. it was the final table dreams are made from, every player there was worse than the ones that had busted. i mean.... if i had any stack at all that was 20 times the bb the tournament was mine to lose. i knew how every single player there played and i knew i would win if i doubled up. thats poker though.
