A colleague of my mine ponied up the 10K to play in the WSOP Main Event in 2007. He played well and made it to Day 3 with about 100k in chips. Early into day 3, he was just a few spots from getting into the money, and had enough chips to do so with ease, but got pocket Aces.
He went all-in and got called by a bigger stack who had KQ suited (hearts). The flop can out with one heart and no pairing, however the next two cards were.... yep, 2 hearts and he got knocked out.
Even though it was a bad beat, the guy overplayed this hand. This close to the money, players know that people will play a little looser to cash. No need to shove all-in here, a 3-4 big blind raise would have been good in that spot. If called and with a favorable slop, then push all-in and hope hand holds up.
