Worst Session Ever!!!!!

Ok, I got home from this afternoon and thought 'I'm gonna play some poker this evening, I'm really in the mood to play poker' so I flash up my laptop and sign-in and sit down at cash table. As I set myself up ready to play that I'm not goin to play badly today, I'm going to play some good poker.

So the first few hands are dealt and I get nothing but rags, so after like ten minutes I have not seen any face cards or suited connectors, nothing. Then I'm on the button and get KQs and bet about 3x the blinds in an attempt to steal and the BB calls, the flop comes KQ so I bet out a pot sized bet and he raises so I call. The turn comes a 2 so I bet again and again he raises so I call with my top 2 pair. The turn comes and Ace, so I check thinking he could have AK seeing as he has been raising and he bets min amount so I call and he flips over A2!!!!!!!

This was a signal of things to come, for the next two hours I sat there and experienced what maybe the worst session in my entire life. Every time I got a hand I got outdrawn or out kicked or beaten by people call raises with small pockets and getting the trip. And even when i was on a straight or flush draw, and on two occasions a straight flush draw I didnt hit once.

In the second hour the best hole cards I got for the entire hour was AQ off suit. I've have just looked over the history of the session and I got pocket pair 3times, the highest pocket was 55.

i think what makes this worse was one of the guys on the table got AA 4 times, KK twice, AKs twice while I was there!!

Luckily I have punching bag in my garage, so I am about to go and kick the crap out it coz if it had been a brick and mortar game I think would have smashed up my chair or sat at the bar and got real drunk and spend even more money!!!

thats bad luck - unbelievable what some players will call / raise with

sometimes they (like me wrongly) think they have sensed weakness - once this happens I will really push a hand even if I have next to nothing (maybe not A2 though)

Personally when he raised your bet on the flop I would have definately re-raised even if it was just the auto raise

a) you could get more value

b) your making the most of being ahead and wanting to kill the hand there and then

if you hit 2 pair on the flop especially high cards there is generally something to keep a player or two involved

straight draw / top pair & over card / flush etc - now your ahead of all of these draws but not that much ahead - too often players dont bet enough to actually give the other player(s) poor pot odds to call

plus any picture cards are way too tempting for inexperienced players to call and hope

My advice (though my game regularly breaks down dramatically in short moments of madness undoing good progress) is that especially in a cash game you should be killing off hands

anything that you hit but looks risky - this hand does IMHO should be bet hard and controlled totally by you

I turned $40 into close to $300 in one evening only to balls it all up playing during the UK daytime (worst hours)

Keep your patience - which you clearly have and dont worry about badbeats unless you creat them yourself by playing the hand poorly
