Just played a bit of poker, (at my least fav site, this didnt make it go up in my opinions lol). Got dealt KK, some guy raised all-in for the rest of his money which was like $3, i call the next raises his all-in about 10, so I call coz the guy has been playing absolute bollocks cards for the last hour or so, if they were suited he'd play them.
The board gets dealt 9-5-9-A-7. So I'm a little nervous bout the Ace. The first guy had QQ so i beat him, the loose guy who I hope goes broke and ends up living on the street from playing garbage turns over 9-5of clubs.
Another guy at the table started giving him shit for raisin to $10 with such shit and that he was terrible etc etc etc. I personally dont like that sort of stuff but I felt like joining in but I just got up and now I'm off down the pub!!
What makes it even worse was this guy thought he was playing good poker.
What I want to know is what goes through their heads when they think yeah I'll go all in with this shit. If there are any people reading this that would have done what he did, please enlighten. Just hope I never play you in my local casino coz I'd prob get barred for punching someone.
tell me about bad cards i`v played a few buy in tournys this week and i`v had nothing but bad cards even when the flop come`s i`m getting absolutly bugger all on it it really duz urhead in and u think wot a waste ov money
I mostly play S & Gs and low start/points tourneys on TITAN, the difference up the buy-in level is great. Low level players will play anything, call suited anything, all in any A etc. Unfortunately you have to get used to it. Or play higher limit stuff.
When I played the $15 buy in tourney recently I got back to the table late due to connection issues and found that the idiots had left (about 100 out of a 300+ field) I then played by the book, fold, fold, fold, play AA, KK, etc and ended up 5th with $90.
Take a look at the type of player you want to play against, $10 bets are pocket money to some though...
I play a lot of hands on TITAN and before that Paradise, the amount of winning hands from poor hole cards is huge, sets, straights and flushes in large amounts.
I also play a home game, boy is it different, the cards just don't come out that easy.
Does anyone think the online games could be slanted to favour 'continued play', ie let the losers win a bit more? keep them coming back to the site?
personally I dont think the cards are skewed - but I know alot of players do
to me it comes back to two factors of playing online v b&m in casinos / home games
a) you are seeing far more cards / hands etc online -
the rate of play even at a slow online table is going to be at least 2x per hour player
you can log up an hour online just about anytime you have a free hour - playing a live game takes planning
so over a year of online play you will have seen literally 10,000's of hands - in live games your not even close to that
b) the quality of players and their reasons to play are not the same
online players come from all walks of life and are probably playing for the first time, like seeing loads of cards, like gambling and like to stay in hands
where as casino / homegame players are better and more able to pick up on tells etc - plus they have learn the art of sitting doing nothing and getting very bored - because they dont want to look an ass in front of real live players and also know that patience is the key to winning
Bad beats are going to happen - there is not getting away from the maths - even a 90% favourite is going to get beat by something 10% of the time - and online poker is a ripe arena for seeing just about anything happen and just about any cards win that 10% of the time
This is actually a good thing as the other 90% of the time your big hand (eg KK) hitting trips on the flop) will get paid off - where as in live game a nut hand / strong hand is more likely to win next to nothing

I too, have oftern wondered about the software being slanted. I think the bigger problem is to many stupid players. One guy will call with stupid cards, win your money on a bad beat and then move on thinking he is the greatest. But before you can recover here comes another idiot that will do the same. You know all those guys will end up losing in the long run but in the mean time they have waltzed off with your cash to give to someone else.
well for me bad beats are part of the game , there are times that you also win win a weaker hand than your opponent and that really makes you happy and there are times you get beat. it just proves that you can win them all.
