    Default Heads Up Question?

    Hi All:

    Looking for some input.

Situation: 8 person $5 tourney on Wass Poker ( with $50 added)
    2 pay as follows: 2nd- $27 1st- $63

Down to heads up and I have a lead of 17,5 - 1.5

First hand guy hits river on me after going all in with 8-5 vs my Q-T

    Second Hand

Guy goes all in again I wake up with the mighty 8-3o. I fold (stacks were then around 15-3)

Rest of story- you can imagine 4 hands later he walks away with the prize (after another suckout with A9 vs my AJ- 9 on the turn) and one bad play by me (tilt anyone )

Question: Should i have called him with my 8-3 hoping to suck out?

Not trying to be results oriented but ........

    Hello Checkout!

I think your folding 8-3o was the basic thing to do, even playing heads up.

You did very well in the tournament anyway, so Congratulations!

    Good luck at the tables!

That's a hard one because at that point he's got 3K VS your 16K (except for I don't know what you already in with the blinds at that point). So it is roughly 20% of your stack.. It is a hard call..
This is what I have been doing in live tourneys, which unfortunately will not work online, lol.--- I do not even look at my cards if I am in a position where I pretty much have to call - say like I am he BB with a fat stack and a very short stack goes all in on my bb. I don't even look and call because in the past I have looked and thought "I can't possibly call with 7,3". Yesterday it worked like a charm- I took 1 player out with my K5 vs their 88 and another player with my 95 VS their AJ.. and ended up taking second place, lol.. Some people though I was nuts, but that just tells me that they don't know how to play very well.

Even at heads up 8 3 off is a pure donk call and will not get you nowhere 9 out of 10 times you have to play hard but consistent in heads up not reckless and hope to get lucky

no way you should go all in with 83...
if he goes all in all the time, just try to be patient and get a hand that you think you will dominate him, so take it easy and enjoy, you're choosing when to go all in then, not him

i don't think i'd pushed with A9 unles it was suited. if i'm gonna push against a player and play bingo its need to be something that i'll have a few options with. i used to push with ace rag alot. getting away from that unless i'm short stacked. this game to me here lately has become a be patience game to win. seems like i do better that way

    with a 5-1 chip lead, I'm calling

I have momentum on my side, and I want this game over with.
if the other player doubles thru 3 times, so be it...

then I just back to proper poker... If I was able to get this player down to a 5-1 chip lead, I know I can out play him on the flop, so I surely will not be racing pre flop if we are even in chips.

The way you played heads up for the information given was solid. Outdraws are a part of the game, though they suck once you are at the final table or heads up. Congrats on the finish even though it is not where you would have liked to finished with the chip advantage you had.
When at the tables, play for the love of the game and show respect for your opponents.

To receive a meaningful answer you need to state what the blinds were.

Essentially if you are getting 2 to 1 pot odds then its a call in your situation, and I suspect this may have been the case.

Unlucky with the rest of the game - it sounds like you played it well and got unlucky.

Also, you are not really hoping to 'suck out' with 83.

In your opponents situation I would push any two cards so 8 high may well be ahead!!

The call all depends on what is in the pot.
