the Ace to 5 wheel draw
In no limit texas hold em, I know the Ace to 5 wheel draw is legal, but isn't only legal if you are holding the Ace in your two cards dealt to you? I didn't think you could use an Ace for the wheel draw if it came up on the community cards on the table, I mean you have to be holding it for it to be legal. Right? Please explain!

No to make a wheel you can be holding only the ace or the 5 to hit it.

There's no specification on what you have to be holding at all. The 5 community cards could be A 2 3 4 5 and you would have hit the straight. Obviously so have your opponents, but you see my point.
Your best 5 card hand plays, no matter what.
royal flush
As far as I know you can use any combination of A,2,3,4,5 to make a wheel. So if you are holding any 2 of those 5 cards and the other 3 are community cards you just made a wheel. The same would apply if you had 1 of the 5 and the other 4 came out as community cards.Originally Posted by nhl987

You are thinking in Omaha format....where you must use two cards from your hand....
In NL Holdem A-5 of your 7 playable cards is the wheel.
In Omaha if there is A-4 on the board, one 5 in hand will not yield the wheel.
