Default Walking Away with a Win

Little Tip for ya if interested

Even more important than winning money is to know how to hang on to it! Lured by the idea of winning even more money at poker, most players eventually end up by losing it all. Thus, a vital feature of poker involves proper management of your money. During a poker game, a successful, professional player should know precisely when to continue and when to stop by carefully analyzing his budget and the progression of that particular game. For instance, if you are satisfied with your overall winnings during a poker game, you shouldn’t rush in to make very high bids, as you can easily lose all your earnings! Regardless of how “lucky” you may feel, always think twice before throwing in all your winnings at a single poker game. When you feel content with your winnings accumulated during a poker game, you should either make smaller bids or even completely withdraw from the game in order to make sure that you will walk away with your earnings.

    Excellent Post.

I am somewhat learning this through a streak of bad wins.

I also don't crush my bankroll anywhere...

Nice wake up call, I've been jumping a few tournaments that I shouldn't.

Very good post. Sometimes you think well I'm on a winning streak and the next thing you know you are broke. It is very easy to do when you get that high feeling.

I think what it all comes down to is one of two things:

    card player -or- gambler

A card player practices good bankroll management and has a good grasp of the poker games they play, etc.

A gambler doesn't have bankroll management skills, and usually doesn't have a good grasp of the poker games they play, etc.

Knowledge and patience are virtues of the card player.
Ignorance and impatience are vices of the gambler.

Ye, different but i think 5% fortune. I am happy, river is the last card on table! River is sometimes crazy or funny or lucky.

Totally agree. I "gambled" at one point and went busto, opps. Learned my lesson the hard way, now I am a total BR nit. (I will still play $1 games with $300-500+, yeah... total nittiness). I do play higher games, but that is someone else giving me the money to play with and taking all the risk of any loses.

Even a very bad losing player can play a very long time without depositing again using a good BR strategy. So in a way, its as important as just knowing the hand rankings.
