    Hi all.

I'm new to this site and I already have a question.

A week ago we had a private poker game and I was between an absolute beginner to my right (even more than me) and someone who kinda knew what he was doing. After the flop I had 2 pair but there was a straight draw out there which got completed on the river. Both players to my left and right had a straight draw and there was no way that I could have pushed them out of the hand.

So my question is, how do play two pairs on the flop if there's a draw on the board? Thank you very much in advance.

It all depends on so many things. Your chip stack, their chip stack. How they played previous hands when there was a draw on the board when they hit or did not. Were they willing to call big bets to chase. Is it a MTT where you risk being knocked out if you bet big and they re-raise and a call puts your trny at risk. If it is a cash game, which it sounds like, what are the limits and so on...

With the little info you posted I would say betting the pot depending on its size may be enough to push them off their hands. Checking will only give them a free shot at another chance to make the draw along with a chance for them to bluff you with a big bet post flop.

    Anyways WELCOME TO 4KINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome. It was just a prive SnG and our stacks were even. I think my problem so far is that I check too much and give my opponents too many free cards.

It would be kind of hard to push them off if they were commited regardless of what you did. The best course of action with these type of players is to lead out with a bet on the flop and turn,m assuming that you are ahead in chips or about even with your opponents. Even if the hand don't go your way, make notes of how you are being played and punish them for chasing as you continue play. If you continue to play your game, positive results are bound to be the result, even after a few outdraws.
When at the tables, play for the love of the game and show respect for your opponents.
